DJ-Set, Events, Progressive House | Avicii LE7ELS # 006 + US Tour
Posted by Middy on March 27, 2012
Avicii has released the 6th episode of what was supposed to be his monthly “LE7ELS” podcast today after spending the last 3 months feverishly touring. He commences the podcast with his own half hour of handpicked tracks, starting with his highly anticipated collaboration with Nicky Romero “Nicktim” and then moving through tracks such as “Troll”, “Calling (Lose My Mind) and Eric Prydz sublime remix of Midnight City. For the throwback track for the podcast he chooses the classic Axwell track “Feel The Vibe” with its funky bass line and groovy melody. Avicii & his manager Ash talk about various things ranging from their House For Hunger Tour to his upcoming tour dates including his live tour he will be premiering at Coachella and using all summer. Sebastian Ingrosso takes over for the second half hour with hits from SHM such as “Antidote” & “Greyhound”, as well as playing Michael Brun’s widely supported progressive bomb “Rise” and his upcoming collaboration with Alesso & Steve Angelo “Ecplise (Why Am I Doing This?). Overall a very solid mix with a good balance of electro and progressive house and not surprisingly a strong presence of Swedish producers. Tracklist after the jump.
Also if you have not already, get tickets for Avicii’s arena tour this summer where he will be doing a live show that Avicii has been hyping a lot. More info including dates HERE.
Drum & Bass, Dubstep | Camo & Krooked — Between The Lines EP

Where to even begin with this amazing remix EP. If you have heard any recent DnB sets by any artist, then you most likely have heard half of these tracks. This is definitely one of the most well rounded DnB EP’s; including everything from the heaviest DnB/Drumstep tracks to the most melodic form of DnB and everything in between. This Remix EP features all styles of DnB leaving nothing out and making sure everyones listening needs are fulfilled. Also included are two masterpiece originals by the duo which also have been highlights of most DnB sets. You can find the big names in this EP such as FuntCase and Fred V & Grafix as well as new comers, such as Dead Battery who won the remix competition. I wish I could go through and talk about how sensational, well-constructed and instrumentally genius each track is, but that would take me all day and all night. Get this amazing EP on Beatport HERE.
Hip-Hop | Jetpack Jones – New Chapters

This is the perfect track for my Sunday afternoon. I’m sure you’re all dreading beginning another week of school/work, so let Jetpack Jones’ new track transport you to a different world for two and a half minutes. For me, I use music as a way to escape, and this is music at its finest. The beat, produced by Dangersquad allows Jetpack Jones to do what he does best, tell a story. And I can’t wait to hear the next chapter in this man’s book. He’s going places, so hop on the bandwagon now and like his facebook page here or below.

Hip-hop might not be as good as it use to be in the US, but I think the UK does a crazy job keeping it alive. I mean sure up and comers aren’t doing half a bad job like Logic, Kinetics, not Mac Miller (kid needs some new subject matter), and not Sam Adams (No offense Sam. I love your tunes, but hip-pop isn’t hip-hop). Hip-hop isn’t just rhyming because you can, otherwise you would see my name up on this post. Countless people telling me they just listen to hip-hop beats now, thats half the track what about the rest of it? You have to have a good flow and a decent story to tell. Love that grimy feel you get from the UK rappers like what you get from this Aspects track, enjoy.

Progressive House | Dirty South & Thomas Gold feat. Kate Elsworth – Eyes Wide Open
Posted by Middy on January 23, 2012
The sequel to the 2011 summer/ second half 2011 anthem “Alive” has finally arrived with the same cast as “Alive” with Dirty South and Thomas Gold providing a sublime instrumental and Kate Elsworth laying down beautiful female vocals that fit perfectly in the song. As first premiered at Pacha NYC on 11/11/11, just as Walking Alone was first played at Electric Zoo and then given its first radio play on Radio One with Pete Tong, this song has seen a measured rise to prominence and is sure to be one of the first huge singles of 2012. The song has the same type of incredibly smooth and uplifting synth chords with an outstanding melody that you cannot help but feel amazing when you listen to this song. Dirty South and Thomas Gold are both woefully underrated, so hopefully this will help them garner the attention they deserve in 2012.

After touring for the past year and change, Sam Adams decided to kick things off this year by giving his fans what they’ve all been waiting for, new music. This 10 track free pre-album entitled Into The Wild is just a taste of what is in store for 2012. Special shout out to Sam’s DJ, Jayceeoh, who helped mix, cut, and master the project.

Albums, Progressive House | Leventina – Revolution + Album Preview
Posted by Middy on December 19, 2011
Leventina is a Swiss duo who are ready to be take the scene by storm. I posted these guys before with one of my favorite songs of the past couple months, “We’re Gonna Start” and if that did not sell you on how good these guys are, these two songs should convince you. These are not standard progressive or electro house songs, there is a lot of creativity and energy in these songs that will separate these guys from other artists. They have an album coming out next year with an expected release date in March and I eagerly await its release. Check out the soundcloud preview below for a sneak peak at the first half of it. Get to know these guys, because they have what it takes to go big time. Get these tracks on Beatport HERE. Like them on Facebook & Twitter as well.
