House | Gryffin Gives Thanks With A Remix of Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder” Ft. The Weeknd
Posted by Tay on December 22, 2015
While some dance music artists have found success with little prior music experience, there’s no denying the advantage that musicians have once they step into electronic production. Gryffin is a multi-instrumentalist and musician in his own right, which is evident in each of his productions. Known for some of the biggest remixes of the last year, such as his remixes of Tove Lo’s “Talking Body,” and Maroon 5’s “Animals,” he is releasing his remix of Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder” as a thank you to his fans for reaching 50,000 likes on Facebook. Infusing layers upon layers of lively synths and a walking bassline to match, this remix soars into the skies with its light and relaxing sound. Having cornered his signature sound, Gryffin is hitting the road for his first ever tour, including live instrumentation. His LA show has already sold out, almost a month in advance, but you can catch his set at SnowGlobe Music Festival in Lake Tahoe or at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on January 20th.

Deep House | Gryffin Releases Flight Log: 002 Winter Solstice Mix, Ahead of First-Ever Live Tour

NYC-based future star, Gryffin, burst onto the electronic music scene with catchy remixes like Tove Lo’s “Talking Body,” Josef Salvat’s “Open Season,” and Years & Years’ “Desire.” He introduced his Flight Log Mix Series at the end of the summer, and is back with the second episode, Flight Log: 002 – Winter Solstice Mix. Gryffin brings us on a journey of chill vibes and deep sounds with tracks from Hotel Garuda, EDX, Sultan and Shepard, Jerry Folk and more. An unreleased ID gets the honors of closing out the 51-minute melodic mix. On top of being a DJ and producer, Gryffin is also a classically trained pianist and guitarist, and has plans to fuse all of his musical talents together in the form of a live tour starting over NYE. He’ll make his first stop at Lake Tahoe’s SnowGlobe Music Festival, followed by Los Angeles’ The Roxy, and then New York’s Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are on sale here.
Nu Disco | Jerry Folk Takes Years & Years’ “Desire” Into Space With New Remix

With the release of Communion in the rearview mirror, Years & Years has been the subject of plenty of remixes this summer. Frontman Olly Alexander’s pop croons provide the perfect vocals for a talented producer to come in and work some magic, and the UK-based electronica band has already been remixed by the likes of Gryffin, Zac Samuel, and more, and today, Norway’s Jerry Folk has unveiled his remix of Years & Years’ “Desire.” Folk is no stranger to indie remixes, as his remix of Oh Wonder’s “Lose It” topped the Hype Machine charts on its way to 4.5 million plays in less than a year, and his “Desire” remix is a lesson in nu-disco. Disco-tinged synth stabs combine with electro-infused basslines and subtle percussions accents to give Folk’s remix a decidedly 70s feel.

House | Listen to Gryffin’s Amazing New Remix of Years & Years’ “Desire”

Everything Gryffin touches is absolutely magic. A few months ago, he unveiled an out-of-this-world remix of Years & Years’ “King,” as he blended his expertly crafted melodies with the indie soul of the UK band, but it seems like the NYC-based producer isn’t finished with his friends from across the pond. Gryffin’s latest effort sees him dabbling into Communion once again, as he turns “Desire” into a dance music classic. Years & Years frontman, Olly Alexander, is front and center on the remix, as Gryffin masterfully floats Alexander’s soulful croons atop a bed of dreamy melodies and evolving bass lines. Since storming onto the scene last year, Gryffin has been on a meteoric rise to the top, and with his “Desire” remix taking the honors of being the lead single off of the forthcoming We Are Your Friends, the future is bright for the young phenom.

Chill, Electronic | Nico & Vinz – Am I Wrong (Gryffin Remix)

I can’t quite remember how I first came across Gryffin or how the heck that sesame seed got in my washroom, but ever since I first heard this song yesterday, I’ve been thinking about it sometimes. The vocals are great and the production is much better than the original. It has a chill, yet uplifting feel to it. It is pretty much the musical equivalent of driving around late at night in residential areas way too fast and with a sick exhaust, but in a good way. Free download of course.
