Indie, RnB, Videos | Jon Bellion – New York Soul

Jon Bellion takes a step back to reflect on the spectrum of life. The object being tugged by two forces; family and fame. As Jon’s presence builds, so does the pressure from surrounding socialites. “New York Soul” tells just that. A mellow, piano driven production by Jon himself provides the foundation for his soulful moving script. GRVTY is once again the wizard behind the lens, directing a simple, but very powerful visual representation.
No download yet, but be patient as Jon has promised an album before year end!
Indie, Pop, Videos | Jon Bellion – Ungrateful Eyes

After teasing us with a ridiculous in-studio video, Long Island swiss army up and comer, Jon Bellion shares the first single off his sophomore album set to drop later this fall. After setting the bar high with his debut effort, Translations Through Speakers, the indie pop star looks to continue escalating into the big leagues. Producing, writing, and recording himself, there’s no question marks looming over JB’s talent – the kid really can do it all.
“Ungrateful Eyes” is the next step in his journey. “I made a hundred grand this year, clap clap, so what” personifies what Jon is all about. He’s in it for the music, and we all have a reason to be excited for that. Daps to GRVTY for putting together yet another unreal set of visuals. Visionary.

“What up to VMG, ya bish?” – QuESt
If you’ve been following Logic, the VMG movement, and the openers on the tour, you may have become familiar with Miami, FL rhymer, QuESt. QuESt is by no means a new artist to FNT, but he’s been diagnosed with “the skill” and will be the next artist to receive the “VMG treatment”.
QuESt has been patiently waiting behind the scenes, working, learning, anticipating his first move with the independent label that recently birthed Logic, Jon Bellion, 6ix, and GRVTY. Returning with his first video single, “NEATO Season” over Childish Gambino’s “Unnecessary”, Q carries his newly acquired torch as he sets forth on his new episode, spitting flaming metaphors and bars packed with intellect. NEATO; wondering what it is? Never Ever Allow The Obscene. The movement QuESt stands behind, the movement you will soon be following (if you aren’t already). Enjoy this video and stay on your toes for much more to come from the next up.

Listen, I don’t blog often anymore and I’m not going to waste your time making the same robot posts you can find on HotNewHipHop or whatever other blog teet you prefer to suck on. I do however, feel obligated to share nuggets such as this video when I come across them. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Jon Bellion, he is an up and coming indie/pop/drop/hop/whatever genre you can classify him in – stud signed to Visionary Music Group who hails from Long Island, NY. His style is unparalleled. His creative process is on another planet. He does it all. The video above is a snippet of a possible track in consideration for his sophomore album. One of the wildest productions I’ve heard in some time. In the words of DJ Rhetorik, “an urban anthem”. Handclaps and Rhetorik shouts all day. Djonbellion Unchained.
Since it sounds like this track is on the cusp of making the album, tweet @JonBellion x @DJRhetorik x @GRVTY_ with a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Logic – Walk On By (Prod. by C-Sick) [Music Video]

This morning I watched legendary blogstar and hip-hop mogul, Elliot Wilson, share his picks for the XXL Freshman 2013 cover. Let me start off by saying Elliot is a legend. A role model for any blogger. Poseidon to a sea of blog minnos. I’ll follow that by noting the fact that he, and many other well respected industry names, have either bypassed Maryland’s young prince or have not yet opened their ears to him. While Trinidad James is poppin’ molly, Logic is in the studio working. While Gunplay is rambling about getting locked up and blowin’ snow at 16, Logic is meticulously lining up bars in the studio.
“Who woulda thought that painting pictures of being broke would get me rich as like dealin’ coke” – Logic
Peace and positivity is what Logic stands for. Under that umbrella, Logic emphatically delivers some of the rawest lyrics I’ve heard this decade. “Walk On By” marks the first official single off his highly anticipated senior mixtape due out later this spring. Visuals by GRVTY (of course) and production comes from Logic’s Chi-town brother, C-Sick. As expected, this new cut will leave you dissecting lines longer than Gunplay’s morning…well, wake up line. Enjoy and expect a HUGE year for L-O-G-I-C. #VMG
Indie, Pop, Videos | Jon Bellion – The Wonder Years [Music Video]

Ahh, the wonder years. When your biggest concern was whether you’re going to have your PB&J cut into halves or quarters. When having a tough day at work meant going 1-4 in your kickball game at recess. Our friend Jon Bellion releases his newest set of GRVTY visuals leading up to the release of Translations Through Speakers, due late this month. Jon reflects on childhood memories during “The Wonder Years”, pointing out the simple things that made life so enjoyable growing up. Sure, being an adult is great for many reasons, but we will always feel that itch to relive the greatest care free years of our lives.
P.S. Anyone catch _ _ _ _ _ in this video? #VMG
Hip-Hop, Videos | Logic – Just Another Day Episode 12 [Video]

You just got VMG’d.
More than halfway through his 25-city, nationwide tour, Logic shares with us the newest installment of tour life inJust Another Day Episode 12. He is not only selling out venues across the country, he is taking independent music to an entirely new level. Seeing Logic live is more than a concert, it’s an experience. No two shows are the same which is made evident in this video. Have you ever seen an artist pause his set to pick up the phone of a kid in the audience to talk to his buddy on the other end, asking why he didn’t make it to the show? Doubtful. You’re experiencing the birth of a star. Other than the dude in the San Fran pullover showcasing his vocals outside the Mac N’ Cheese shop, very few can keep up in the lane Logic’s currently cruising in.
