The New York City duo that is Solidisco is sitting on top of the world, with their first official single off Ultra Records “Top Of The World” featuring vocals from legendary disco/funk band Skyy, which will be released Friday January 25th. To show you how these 2 are bringing disco music back, this is Skyy’s first musical contribution in over 20 years! I’m feeling this vibe, it makes me want to get the disco ball out and go funk out. It’s mid-morning already over here in snowy Sweden and I have not been able to bring myself to even think of stepping foot outside by bed until catching not one but TWO Carmack releases on his Soundcloud. The first, “sunday into monday funk” has proved to be my saving grace in dispelling any case of the Mondaze I might have encountered (with a little help from Earth, Wind & Fire), while the second, “by kaytra and me,” provides all the vibes you’d expect to hear in a collaboration between these two extraordinary producers.
Better indulge in these quick considering how quickly Carmack has been switching out the tracks on his Soundcloud as these are not to be missed.

Drum & Bass, Glitch | Upscale Recordings – The Collective EP (Ft. Evoke, Frequent, Masq, Audeka, Paurini, & Spectric)

Damn, the sub-label of Adapted Records, Upscale Recordings with the goal of sharing strictly Neuro-Hop (Blend of Glitch-Hop and Neuro-Funk AKA Drum & Bass), drops this dirty EP of some of the top up and comers in the newly rising twisted genre. The EP kicks off with an original from Evoke. Carrying the title of the EP, “The Collective” thumps in smoothly, only to progress into that deliciously glitched out funk. Next, Spectric remixes Evoke’s original, adding a few more layers to the mix of the glitch to take you on deep stroll of bass. A commoner on FNT with his Neuro/Trap blends, Masq teams up with Frequent. Their collaboration “Firescape” starts out with a calm, slightly glitchy melodic euphoria, leaving you bumping out at a deep multi-bass layered drop. A larger name and personal favorite of Neuro-hop, come Audeka with a funky remix of Dino Safari’s Breakspeed. This remix has to be my favorite on the EP, I love how deep the bass on this track is and how it maintains the funk with the chill throughout it. Something that KOAN Sound and Asa introduced to the majority of the population on their most recent collaboration EP. Last, but certainly not least, Paurini introduces himself with a chilling original, “Lumberjack”. Paurini is a new name for me, and after hearing this original, I’m blown away. I suspect this is just the beginning of his epic Neuro journey. Neuro-Hop is a genre on the rise, while Dubstep introduces new artists by the minute and becomes more and more repetitive by the minute. “The Collective” EP is a must have, and count on Upscale recordings to introduce countless more great tracks in the future.

House | Alta – Stepping Out (Jahnne Remix)

Australian producer Jahnne brings the funk with his remix of Alta’ “Stepping Out.” If you check out the original, it’s more of a downtempo record with some sexy retro vocals. The remix has a bounce to it, with a deep house layered with a funky guitar riff. Let this one build for a minute, once the track kicks in you’re going to feel it. I recommend this track strongly, this is a must listen and a must download! Enjoy your Saturday!

This remix of Bon Iver’s “Perth” is one of the best remixes of 2013, hands down, and I’m surprised as to why it’s not all over the blogs at the moment. A description of this record wouldn’t do it justice, you’re going to have to experience this record on your own. House | Axel Boman – Riding High On Love

And yet… another contribution from our sweeter than Swedish Fish Swede, Rebecca. I don’t know if you know this about Sweden but they drink about 5x the amount of coffee per day than we do in America so dis girl be busting out posts like it was her job. And who knows maybe one day it might be. Not until she gets some more Twitter followers though (help her out here!).
If you don’t feel the good vibrations in your whole body from this track, there must be something wrong, because WOW this is addictive. I’ve got that tingling sensation in my skin that goes hand in hand with the discovery of a new favorite song. And this particular one makes me wanna do a spontaneous twirl of happiness. If it wasn’t for my flatmate’s pulled-together presence, honestly I would already have done it.
Opening my Soundcloud stream turned this grey afternoon into a glamorous yet modern, Motown party (…at least in my head, no reaction from my not very engaged roomie). And not to mention, everything Motown makes me melt (my dear family has never been religious apart from praising The Supremes and Jackson 5.) With ”Riding High on Love Edit”, the Swedish DJ Axel Boman does his house version of Jr. Walker and the Allstars’ Motown classic.
Axel Boman is my personal deep house/house crush as he manages to really stand out from the crowd of thousands and thousands of similar DJs. It may has something to do with his down to Earth charm (check his insta and be love struck), but it’s clear his productions possess the originality that makes them most memorable. His ”Purple Drank” got stuck in my head right away the first time I heard it. It was the vocals: One sentence, right where it should be: ”I woke up with your name on my lips.” I woke up with this song stuck in my head, I’ll tell you. And it was pleasurable.

I can’t really say that I’ve ever heard anything like this before, so its definitely worth the share. Reminding me of Thriftworks, it gives for a cinematic, acid funk, soul motion sort of music. With so many different sounds to listen to, this track is far from boring. Catch the rest from B.R.E.E.D on the album Binate.
