Progressive House | Gentle Bones – Until We Die (Manfred & Atran Remix)

Tyra Banks blows me away with her undeniable smarts but for some reason, when I first heard this song, I did not feel the same way. To be fair, my first listen was heard through laptop speakers so I jerked my way over to my room, grabbed my headphones and proceeded to get into the zone. I rubbed the tip for a second, gave it a kiss, plugged the headphone jack in and pressed play. I actually enjoyed the song very much on that listen and each time I listened to afterwards I would like it more and more. The producers behind this remix are Manfred, a gentleman from Singapore with only 34 followers on Soundcloud and Atran, a producer with 170 followers on Soundcloud and yet, an odd 70k likes on Facebook. Pretty freaky stuff to be sure but the song is good so look past it and enjoy. Also, if you don’t enjoy it, keep it to yourself. There’s no room for criticism here at FNT.

Exclusive, Featured, House | FNT Premiere: Walker Lukens – The Night I Was Kissed By Patti Smith (Mike Z remix)

It’s a holiday (thank you troops), so we are hear to celebrate with not one, but two premieres. This time we have the Mike Z remix for NPR tipped Walker Lukens new tune “The Night I Was Kissed By Patti Smith” (That is quite a mouthful). If you had a long festival weekend (like me) and are hurting bad, then this is for you. It is very chill, relying on a simple, yet addictive guitar melody, with soft, soothing drums underneath that work side by side with the vocals from Mr. Lukens.

Shout-out to the homie with rocking to the FNT pinnie yesterday at EDC NY. We always love to see you guys showing support, it means a lot.

Two Fridays ago in New York it monsooned. Not your average everyday, downpour with the occasional flash of lightning, but a serious cloth soaking, 100% humidity state of affairs that created deceptive “puddles” that would envelop your entire lower leg up to your knee. Despite this and a 4 hour flight delay because of it, The Bixel Boys got to Webster Hall to play alongside the big man himself (he is actually a rather tall and imposing figure), Tchami.

So me hoarse from yelling over the music and a busted voice from a week of tough allergies and a cold, managed to get out some ridiculous questions to the guys and they gave me some great answers with Tchami “Untrue” blaring in the background.

Trap | Kasbo – Reaching

This is Kasbo’s third appearance on FNT, and he is finally getting some of that recognition elsewhere with growing attention from Cream Collective and Trap City. The 18 year old Swedish producer has a new track out called “Reaching”. This unique lovetrap style song has a bouncy drum pattern and a melody that will stick in your head long after you listen. Trap City described it as “a chill release with summer vibes”. You can grab it from Slimkat Records on Beatport.

Electronic, Trap | Ostra – Won’t Do // Zu-Zumba

Over here at FNT we’re die hard DIEHIGH fans so it came as no surprise that I was instantly hooked by one of their latest releases showcasing LA-based newcomer Ostra. This EP is pretty interesting considering the two very different approaches taken with each track. The first, “Won’t Do” will cater perfectly for those Wave Racer fans out there meanwhile the second is a fascinating collage of latin guitar, Mr.Carmack-esque trap, and crowds chanting. Diggin’ the originality. Cop this EP and keep an eye out for future releases from this newbie.

Electronic | Kito & Reija Lee – I Need You

“I Need You” by Kito & Reija Lee is nothing like what I usually post. It’s got a pop vibe but can’t quite fall into that category. I’ve been a sucker for Kito & Reija Lee since I heard them on FNT in 2011. I’m not sure why but their sound just grabs me, and I think others will have the same feeling! There is a common synth in most of the songs I’ve heard from Kito & Reija Lee and it is noticeable in this track too. If you’re familiar with them, or their big hits “Sweet Talk” and “Run For Cover” you’ll know what I mean. This new track is smooth and has beautiful vocals. Hard Rock Sofa need little introduction. Though their rise to prominence has only been in the past 3-4 years, coinciding with the dance music boom Stateside, they have been making music since 2005. Approaching a decade of making music and it appears that they are hitting their stride (take notes kids, this does not happen overnight, unless you buy it), making tunes in a wide variety of sounds and styles.

We were supposed to sit down and chat with them the third day of E Zoo, but well I think we all know what happened. But we got the chance after “Arms Around Me” released to chat with them, so of course we did. We got to chat about their latest single “Arms Around Me” that was just released on Axtone, the impact of Sergey (the former third member of the group) leaving, their upcoming artist album and much more.
