The homie Steve Swift, with his first FNT post, put the electro back into Avicii’s hit record “Wake Me Up” and even included hints of dreamy trance, that had me wondering for a second if Robert Miles was behind this. The track starts off with a hard bass that makes you want to rage, and then it’s off to euphoria with a bright piano chord progression. If you’re trying to get the chills, listen to around 2:16, the build reminds me of that good trance from back in the days. This is a must listen and a must download! PS, if you’re in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, make sure you tune in to DJ Steve Swift every Sunday 9PM – 10PM on iHeartRadio and 104.5 WSNX!

Seven Lions

There aren’t many guys who have created trends and styles in dance music today. Seven Lions’ patented brand of melodic dubstep has quickly become one of the go-to styles for a throng of copycats and established producers alike. After transitioning from metal to electronic music, Jeff Montalvo made his presence felt in a huge way with his Beatport competition winning remix of Above & Beyond’s “You Got To Go”, that would launch his career and open doors that were not even on possible for him to reach before.

We caught up with Seven Lions on his tour bus before he was slated to go on at Pier 94 on Halloween with Krewella, Gareth Emery, Candyland and Cash Cash. We chatted about his upcoming plans, including taking time off from touring next year, touring in general, releases he has coming up, music piracy and much more.

Electro-House | Dirtyloud Ft. Sirreal – Needle (FTampa Remix)

Posted by on November 1, 2013

Dirtyloud Ft. Sirreal - Needle (FTampa Remix)FTampa is one of those artists I feel has never gotten the amount of love he deserves. He dropped this raver’s fantasy today as a little thank you to the fans he has had and the support they have given over the years. I have had a little trouble listening to House and Electro-House lately due to how the festival scene has forced upon artists repetitiveness in production. Since my first days with FNT up to today, FTampa has never disappointed me with a track. This remix is no exception to that either, enjoy.

Bootleg, Electro | Danny Brown – Dip (Ghost Hunna Bootleg)

Posted by on October 24, 2013

ghost hunna dip

Some of you probably remember a few weeks back when I unleashed “Look Out!” to the FNT readers, a bass-heavy medley from NYC producer, Ghost Hunna. Well, Yung Hunna -no affiliation to Yung Humma– has returned to blow our minds once more.

This go-round Hunna steers away from his original production and hops aboard Danny Brown’s eccentric, “Dip”, in an attempt to make it even more outlandish. And, folks, he accomplished the impossible. The only element which you should expect in this bootleg is the element which you least expected. “Dip” is all across the board, complete with broken chords and a pounding UK-style bass line perfect for the club, car, or kitchen.

Hip-Hop, Rap, Videos | Dee Brown – A Dying Man

Posted by on October 21, 2013

When I first started blogging for Filthy Slaps, I came in contact with Dee Brown because his lyrics really reached out to me. As an avid lover of the hip-hop culture, Dee really takes advantage of the darkness and stamina that a lot of rappers forget surrounds hip-hop. Of course hip-hop songs can be fun and uplifting, but it all originated from the reality of having struggles. This is apparent in ‘A Dying Man’; though the lyrics are deep and the message is blatant, he reaches into something more and I really appreciate the music. He’s had a long absence from FNT, but with his newest drop of his album ‘DEREK‘, Dee Brown is back.
