Moonrise Festival

Baltimore’s bass heavy Starscape Festival has been known for showcasing up and coming talent, mixed with some established names in the bass heavier end of dance music — all at a great price. However, the creators of Starscape decided that after 14 years it needed a makeover to bring it up to speed with the bigger is better festival culture here in America. The festival has expanded from its traditional one day format to 2 days, 12 hours each day at the Sun Park in downtown Baltimore.

This expansion and rebranding has brought new names and sounds to the lineup, from trance to hip hop, to the more traditional sounds of electro and dubstep. Big names like Eric Prydz, Datsik, Pretty Lights, Doctor P, Paul van Dyk, Porter Robinson, Nero, Flux Pavilion, Krewella and more will be gracing the stages in Baltimore that early summer weekend. So get your tickets now and get ready for the beginning of the festival season with an under the radar festival worthy of your consideration. Click past the jump to see the full lineup poster. Dubstep | R Rated #61

Posted by on January 25, 2013

Sorry for the delay on R Rated again guys, but we had a lack of free tunes again this week and just needed to wait a bit more for the goods. To kick off R Rated we got this sick preview from Flux Pavilion’s upcoming EP of a track that seems to have him on the vocals. The track is entitled The Scientist and has that awesome old school Flux Pavilion vibe that everyone fell in love with. Only 4 more days until the EP releases so keep your eyes peeled.

Mach and I posted this track a few weeks ago on R rated talking about how badly we wanted this track and the fact that we would never get it. Well we were wrong, because after getting spammed Trolley Snatcha decided it was time to give it away. I can’t imagine as to why he wouldn’t finish such a monstrous track and release it on an EP.

Next up is an absolute grimey, dirty, gritty track from Getter. This track is filthy on so many levels its hard to describe. I honestly don’t know how else to describe this track besides that it nearly rips your ears to bits from its tearing mid range basses. On another note, Getter’s collaboration with Protohype is a little bit strayed from Getter’s usual style and leans more toward a more melodic and festival style track while keeping some grime.

Formerly known as Deadpool Dubstep, Ommi has just released his Mutant EP yesterday and just to push the EP up the charts a little more, as a side gift if you buy the EP and send him a screenshot of the purchase you can also gets this heavy track. Its a tribute to his old alias and its a banger.

Here are a few more track and previews for you guys to enjoy. Read on.

Dubstep | Major Lazer ft Flux Pavilion – Jah No Partial

Posted by on October 22, 2012

Major Lazer’s reign of influencing the EDM scene with their Island/Reggae style continues with their latest release and collaboration with the one and only, Flux Pavilion. We first got a real glimpse of this outstanding tune through Skrillex and 12th Planet’s back to back set at UMF, when this tune took the internet by storm. After sorting out all the details and figuring out this was a collabortion between the two heavy hitters,  all we could do was wait for some sort of release date and more audio of the track. Diplo is one of those artist who likes to relay a message into his tracks through whatever method possible and in the video provided below, he gives us a little overview as to why he chose the acapella for this Johnny Osbourne classic. This bouncy track definitely exhibits styles from both artists and turned out to be an amazing tune. Grab this track off of Beatport HERE.

Trap | Flosstradamus – Lana’s Theme

Posted by on June 4, 2012

I had to choose between seeing Flosstradamus and Flux Pavilion this Friday in Austin, and although Flux’s show was amazing, I wish I could travel back to see these guys tear the stage up. Hearing good things about their live shows and the energy these guys bring, made me frustrated I had to miss them. Releasing their highly anticipated interpretation of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Gamez”; these guys absolutely smashed it. I have never wanted to bob my head to a song so much before this track came around. It is tough to not enjoy their music when they are bringing together a fusion of electronic and a hint of hip-hop.
