Dally Auston released his West Side EP a few days back and it has us really excited for his next project Roses. The Savemoney artist has 9 songs on this EP and it is nice to hear new material from him after hearing singles like Gatsby and W$GTM. Look for Roses later this year.

Chill, Dubstep | James Egbert – Exit Wounds (Murtagh Remix)

First off, I would just like to apologize for the scarcity of my posts. A few weeks ago I gained access to a Brazzers account and my life has been in shambles ever since. Not only that, but a few days ago I accidentally checked out the new guy at my work. He had long hair and was wearing a lululemon sweater so there was really nothing I could do there. It was crazy. Also, as if that wasn’t enough, my mom bought me candy cane scented hand soap but it doesn’t really smell like candy canes. It smells like how I imagine a candy cane would smell like after it had been sitting on the street for a few weeks and then thrown at my face by a smelly person.

In addition to wondering why Taylor Swift is always kissing a different guy in her music videos and how I wish I was one of them, there has been one other thing on my mind for the past few days and that has been this song. It is not often a song opens with 2 minutes of atmospheric piano and slowly building strings before switching gears entirely and becoming a chillstep track but that is what Murtagh did with his remix of James Egbert’s “Exit Wounds”. While I do think the intro could have used maybe an extra synth or two to liven it up a bit, it is still incredibly cinematic and well done. The uniqueness of it and the fact that it’s free makes this a track worth checking out.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Justin Timberlake – TKO (Remix) [J.Cole, A$AP Rocky, Pusha T]

If you missed it a few days back, the Justin Timberlake “TKO” remix is one for the ages. Featuring three of the hottest young emcees (young of course being used relatively as Pusha T is 36) the song puts a more “hood” spin on the original JT Experience track. In my personal and professional opinion I like J. Cole’s verse the best, and no, not just because he responded to Kendrick. Cole’s wordplay and idiom game was on another level and I suggest you guys check out the full annotations over on Rap Genius.

Stream and download this beauty for free and let me know who you think went the hardest on their verse!

DO SOMETHING

Trap | Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek (Candyland’s OG Remix)

I’m surprised this track hasn’t gotten more coverage over the past few days. Candyland, the killer duo from Isla Vista, comprised of Josie Martin & Ethan Davis, just released (yet another) OG remix – and it’s spectacular to say the least.

Remember back in ’09 when a bunch of artists kept remixing/sampling this song (e.g. – Tiësto’s Remix  and Jason Derulo’s “Watcha Say”)? Well, Candyland just brought it back, and it’s straight fire. The way these two chop and screw the vocals, and then throw down an original beat with that classic Candyland sound is refreshing, leaving you wondering how you’re going to wait for their next production. Hit up that free download and enjoy!

Alternative, RnB | Joel Compass – Run (Video)

Posted by on October 18, 2013

This is the latest release from the newest Photo Finish artist Joel Compass – the video for his newest single, “Run”, was released a few days ago via Vevo. “Run” is the lead single from Joel’s forthcoming LP, tentatively scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2014. “Run” premiered on BBC Radio 1 during Zane Lowe’s show back in late September as his ‘Hottest Record.’

I’ve always had a soft spot for R&B music -I can thank John Legend for that- and perhaps it’s this predisposition which attracts me to Joel Compass so easily. But, even if R&B isn’t your go-to genre, this young artist has enough originality and crossover appeal to really leave a mark.

Enjoy the song and video and stay tuned for his LP coming soon!

Indie, Pop | Academy – Fine By Me

I’ve been listening to  “Fine By Me” by the Academy for a few days, and the truth is it’s a great record. It has a reggae flavor and a dose of retro-funk, I’m feeling it. In my opinion, this hook is a hit, so damn catchy, just a cool vibe. The band is a duo Evan and Eli from Rhode Island whom are currently residing in Los Angeles, and Boston. Hopefully they put out some new tracks some time soon, it’s a great sound! Must listen and must download!

Long Island, NY producer Saint Pepsi released “Unhappy” a few days back “just to see what happens”, and it’s an absolute beauty. He calls this Soul/Emo/Trap music, and it definitely has all 3 genres incorporated. I’ve been vibing out to it all morning, and contrary to its title, the guitar’ll have you feeling at peace, and you might catch yourself doing a little shoulder bounce to the drums, they knock. Stream this record, and get that free download, this is a wonderful piece of work!
