Dubstep, Preview | The Prototypes – Suffocate (Koven Remix)
Posted by Mach on November 4, 2012
Koven (previously Coven, name change due to a lawsuit), is definitely a favorite of mine, considering I have many favorites, but its hard not to when you listen to a lot of music on a daily basis. Koven is a bass machine. He has countless amazing released originals and remixes, including a large arsenal of unreleased tunes including this awesome upcoming remix of The Prototypes’ “Suffocate.” From the clip, the vocals are used properly, but what really gets to you is the extremely heavy bassline using identical synths to those that made Killsonik famous. Koven has show he can adapt his own style in many different ways. This remix releases November 11th.
Chill, Throwbacks | Diplo – Got Stoned and Mixed Really Old Records for Half an Hour
Posted by CHAZZZ on October 24, 2012
Yes, I know it’s not Thursday yet, but sorry to all you Twitter and Instagram freaks out there, I couldn’t wait for #TBT (Throwback Thursday) to post this one. The title really says it all, Diplo got stoned and mixed really old records for half an hour. Don’t even try to tell me this funky, psychedelic mix of old jams isn’t the best early #TBT gift ever. Give this one a listen (and maybe get stoned) when you have 30 minutes to enjoy the whole thing and soak up how stoned Diplo really must have been to throw this together for us. Sound off in the comments section and let me know what your favorite old song he used was. Enjoy.

Interviews, Trap | Sidney Samson – Riverside (Spenca OG Trap Bootleg) + Exclusive Interview
Posted by Sev on October 15, 2012
Spenca has become one of the most versatile artist to storm through the EDM scence in the past few years. Releasing material through multiple genres, that have been recognized and exposed by some of the top artist in the industry. Having his songs played by Rusko through his early years of production, to collaborating with artist such as AFK Dubstep and DKS Dubstep, to even having Avicii playing his amazing house anthem Superstition on one of his podcasts. This artist is not afraid to try his talent in different genres, and with the release of his latest free tune we get to see his work in Trap. Needless to say this is just him having “fun”, he is a multi-talented producer to say the least. Taking Sidney Samson’s Riverside and lacing it with some heavy bass and tight snare’s to transform the track into a Trap’t out banger. The track is a definite must have, but we were also given the amazing opportunity to sit down with this talented producer and go one-on-one with him and his career as a producer. This is by far one of my favorite interviews I have had so far, because not only was he looking out for his best interest and exposure, but also trying to help those out that are in the same position he was once in as a producer. It is always great to have someone that has worked with some of the best and with so much experience and talent to shine some light on what it takes to make it in the EDM world. Check out some of Spenca’s social media below along with the interview.

Dubstep | R Rated #50!
Posted by Sev on October 11, 2012
Fifty weeks of R Rated and yet again we aren’t slowing down anytime soon. With classes ramming ridiculous amounts of work into our faces you would think there would be a few skipped editions of R Rated, but we just can’t do that to our fans. With that said Mach came up with the brilliant idea to celebrate this joyous occasion by ramming you guys with even more tracks than we usually do, so let the filth overload begin.
Xilent is on the verge of another monstrous EP release through Audioporn Records and we all know there is no better way to hype the fans than giving away a free track from his EP. This track is that heavy melodic style Xilent is so great at producing, sprinkled with a some grime lyrics courtesy of Youthstar to add a hip hop feeling to it.
This next one is a little exception to R Rated. We usually stay away from posting DnB into R Rated, because we save it for Dnb Friday’s, but when Noisia posts something on their Soundcloud from another artist, you know it is no joke. With Noisia being one of the best sound engineers to ever grace the EDM scene it is obvious they push to get the closest in sound perfection when it comes to creating and mastering tracks. The Upbeats seem to be a new favorite for these guys and with that we can hear the Nero-funk influence from Noisia throughout a few of their recent tracks including this dark tune.
LabRat has grown significantly as a producer ever since we started following him and posting his tracks a few months back. With the Halo soundtrack remix competition in progress we are seeing the spur of remixes popping up everywhere. With that said many artist are choosing to stay ont he epic, melodic path that the Halo soundtracks usually stray towards, but LabRat takes the heavy, grimy path.

Dubstep | 12th Planet & Antiserum – Bass Salt
Posted by Sev on October 9, 2012
With the release of the “Smog City Compilation” only a few days away, 12th planet ,being the generous person he is, has given away one of the tracks off the EP titled Bass Salt. This collabortion with him and Antiserum is a combination of Dubstep and Trap into one heavy hitting, bass driven track. Although Trap alone really isn’t a favorite of mine to listen to, this track is a banger. Thanks to Spin Magazine for the short little description about the track and upcoming compilation that can be read HERE. Grab the FREE DOWNLOAD BELOW.
