Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Jaytech talks opening vs headlining, upcoming productions & more in an exclusive interview with FNT
Posted by Middy on March 14, 2013
Anjunadeep man turned Anjunabeats Dj and producer James Cayzer better known as Jaytech is coming off of a year that saw him release his sophomore album “Multiverse” and cement his position as one of the better members of the Anjunabeats family. 2012 saw him grace the stages like EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo and Tomorrowland, while touring the world in destinations like North America, Japan, Europe and his native Australia. He most recently released his track “Inception” on Anjunabeats Volume 10, one of the darker tracks on the compilation. After moving to Berlin 3 years ago, a move that has been “really great”, from his 2 year stint in London to be closer to the Anjunabeats family, he feels right at home making music that feels right.
We got him on the phone at his place in Berlin in between shows last weekend in New York and Slovakia and then back to the US this week for the all important WMC. You can find info on his gigs down in Miami and beyond here. We had the chance to chat about the mistakes openers make and how to stand out as an opener, upcoming material, how business is changing dance music and much more.
Progressive House | Little Daylight – Overdose (The Chainsmokers Remix)
Posted by Mel on March 13, 2013
Continuing their trend of remixing indie songs, quite possibly the greatest producing duo to ever exist besides Daft Punk and pretty much everyone else, The Chainsmokers have released another classic. For those who are unaware of who these two fine gentlemen are, i’ll briefly describe them. Have you ever thought about taking a bath and then realized what a ridiculous idea that is? Or how about when you’re home alone so you use the washroom with the door open but then your dog comes in and just stares at you. That’s what The Chainsmokers are. They’re the dog that watches you pee and the bath you don’t want to have. “Why is that?” you may ask. Well that’s because they think Leighton Meester is a 6.5 and Megan Fox is a 10.
But enough about their inaccurate scale of objectifying women, they just released a new song. They say it’s by far their favorite remix they’ve done and I can see why. I’m not sure if I like it better than their classic “Around Us” remix, but it’s definitely close. It’s in my top 200 for sure. The Chainsmokers have perfected the formula that they’ve used for their previous remixes. As well as having mastered such a rare thing these days, an intro that I actually enjoy listening to, they have a knack for injecting the energy of house music into songs while keeping much of the feel of the original intact. Sit back, click play, and ponder this wonderful piece of advice I was given by the guys themselves “if you’re anything as witty as you are online, you will likely get laid before you die… 😉

Evora’s Weekly Playlist #3:
Remember the feeling of being 13 years old, in Mexico with your parents, drinking a virgin piña colada and watching all the rowdy college kids have the time of their life? I do. I went to Cancun with my parents and vividly remember watching college bros raging all night on their balcony with smoke shows hotter than the white sand beaches. I wished that was my life and I wanted to be them. Well, now it’s our time. It’s time to take on spring break with a real piña colada in hand, taking body shots off of smoke shows on the beach and hitting the clubs in Cabo hard at night. I created a playlist to help power the FNT Nation this Spring Break and keep you guys raging from the sunrises on the beach to the after parties after the clubs. All these songs are packed full of energy and are some of my favorite party songs. One of my favorites, Changed by SirensCeol is the perfect anthem to fade your thoughts of going to sleep and help power you through the week. I love this playlist as much as spring break itself and I hope you guys have a great break. Be sure to download this playlist below and always party with sluts.
Electro, Mashups, Trap | ETC!ETC! & Brillz (New Jack Swoop)
Posted by mimada on March 8, 2013
This has been one of my favorite trap tracks for a while now but ETC!ETC! & Brillz somehow managed to make me want to boogie even more to this now with their upgraded remix of Swoop. I’m a sucker for hip hop and electronic mashups, what can I say. What really gets me going about this one though are the hints of Bell Biv Devoe’s Posion. Takes me back to the good ol’ days…
Hip-Hop, Videos | Kyle Lucas & Captain Midnite — I’m Only A Little Crazy, Baby (Haunting Me) [Music Video]
Posted by jeffwbaird on March 4, 2013
Here is the latest video from one of my favorite emcee/producer duos, Kyle Lucas and Captain Midnite. Just off the heels of the Seattle producer’s most recent EP, All This Will Fade, Midnite connects with the Marietta rapper over this fiery track, complete with some visuals that definitely live up to the track’s name (hint: there’s murder, straight jackets, and an insane asylum, among other things). Check the video out below, and if you haven’t gotten their most recent collaborations, you’re going to want to get on that now.
Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electronic | Koven – More Than You EP
Posted by Sev on March 3, 2013
Koven, formerly known as Coven, have just released their newest EP, which consists of one of the greatest releases of the year by far. After my first listen to the release I knew that this EP needed to be more than just a post about the release. So with a little bit of help we were able to ask the duo some questions about music and how it all started, which you can find by reading on below. Besides the two originals on the EP from Koven are two remixes; one from DC Breaks and the other from Roughmath, which are both amazing in their own manner. The title track, More Than You, is the perfect blend of emotion and heaviness into one power packed song. It isn’t an easy task to create such an emotional piece by an artist and also be able to incorporate their flavor of grime as well, but this duo showed us exactly how it needs to be done. Their second track No Blocks seems to be more along the lines of the neuro/glitchy style of dubstep that artist such as Koan Sound, or Reso create so often. Either way this EP contains some great tracks from all sides of the spectrum and is a must have. Don’t forget to click ‘Read On’ to check out our interview with Koven, and also a big thank you to Viper Recordings for helping make that happen.

Moombahton | La’Reda – Guns Drawn [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Sev on March 1, 2013
La’Reda is back at again with another exclusive for you guys. These guys have just been cranking out track after track for their fans and they’re all amazing! This track is probably one of my favorites from them, because of the different genres and styles they incorporated into this one track all work so well. They took their heavy trance and electro background and fuzed them into this crushing Moombahton track. The melodies and chord progressions are outstanding alongside the 110BPm tempo and four-to-the-floor kick, which becomes a moombah kick-snare later on changing the whole feel of the track and giving it more swing. These guys have big things in store later on this year so be sure to keep an eye out for them. Grab your free download from below, because this is a must have for everyones weekend and upcoming Spring Break.
