Dubstep, Electro, Hip-Hop | SuperVision – Telekinetic EP
Posted by Mach on June 4, 2013
Ah, another treat from the good old Pretty Lights Music label. SuperVision has always been a favorite of mine from the label, maybe even slightly more so than Pretty Lights himself. This new EP from SuperVision played better than I anticipated, the opening track “Super Like Vision” was the coolest way to kick off. It is definitely my favorite track from the EP. The rest of “Telekinetic” is just as tasteful, providing a little bit of Hip-Hop and soulful vibes throughout. Definitely a great download.

Events, Review | Hardwell, Dyro, Audien & Henrix @ Governor’s Island 5/26/13
Posted by Middy on June 2, 2013
Looking back on last weekend, I think about how time flew from graduating college on Saturday afternoon, to a whirlwind celebration afterword into the wee hours of the morning, then struggling to move out entirely a few hours later to get home and make it into New York for this show on Governor’s Island by 4pm (was never going to happen). The lineup starting with Hardwell, then Dyro, Henrix and Audien was golden and if you were in New York, you had to attend this event. The city had “officially” kicked off the festival season with overpriced, lackluster EDC New York in the parking lot of Citi Field and really needed a proper start to festival season. Why not a holiday weekend like Memorial Day weekend that is the beginning of summer for many, on the beaches of Governer’s Island, with a lineup led by possibly the hottest DJ in the world right now, Hardwell.
Progressive House | Archie feat Crywolf – Heart Attack (Club Edit)
Posted by Mel on May 27, 2013
Archie has returned with a new free track for everybody. If you’ve heard any house song in the past two years then you know what to expect. I’m not too fond of Archie for the simple fact that he, like many of his peers, has chosen to ride the wave of generic progressive house. He’s even used the exact same synth for some of his earlier songs. This song, however, has something distinguishable amongst his other tracks. That would be the excellent vocals of Justin Phillips, also known as Crywolf. He is one of my favorite male vocalists so it was fairly obvious that when he combined with the good, but generic Archie, that it would be a good song.
Dubstep | Konec – The Void (Ft. Anna Yvette) + Exclusive Interview
Posted by Sev on May 24, 2013
It has been a great pleasure watching Konec grow as an artist over the past year and even more exciting to see what the future holds for this young talent. After months of hard work he is on the verge of his new EP release entitled ‘Futures EP’ on Datsik’s label, Firepower Records. It’s great to see an artist work so hard and receive the credit they deserve for the countless hours they spend working on their craft. Up until now we have been getting little glimpses of Konec’s EP through mixes, but with the EP release in four days we finally get a free download of what I consider to be one of the most emotional dubstep tracks I have heard thus far this year. Anna Yvette has clearly been busy working with some of the best producers around and she deserves her recognition just as much as Konec does. With the EP release soon approaching, I recommend everyone listen to the iTunes previews of the tracks and Pre-order the EP right after, because it is going to be worth the purchase. Up to this point I have only see positive responses about the EP and imagine only better things to come. Check out the previews below as well as the exclusive interview with Konec about writing the EP and other matters.

Hip-Hop, Pop | Kat Dahlia – Gangsta

Ex FNT blogstar, SeñorScoop, pushed this track in front of me a couple weeks ago. He said dude, “Listen to this chick. She’s the next Rihanna.” I took it with a grain of salt (as I usually do) and gave it a listen. Decent, good at tops. I was wrong – this song is magical. The 22-year old Cuban-American boasts vocals equivalent to Rihanna’s deeper notes, continuously delivering honest, edgy lyrics over a slow piano driven production. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs. Oh, and if it’s any indication that she’s destined for success, Sylvia Rhone (arguably one of the most powerful women in the music industry) was the one who gave her a platform and eventually signed her to a new division of Epic Records, Vested in Culture.

Events, Review | Kaskade – It’s You, It’s Me Redux Tour

I’ve finally washed ashore from the sensational tidal wave that was Kaskade’s It’s You, It’s Me Redux Tour. Everything you heard about drowning in sweat, auditory immersion and house deeper than the Mariana Trench was no exaggeration in reference to what I experienced that Tuesday night at his kick off show in Dallas. I’ll do my best to recreate the atmosphere (hehe) from that show but when it comes down to it, you just have to close your eyes in dive into the music yourself. Conveniently, I’ve provided the San Diego set in it’s entirety for your listening pleasure so all you need to do is press play and come with me on my journey to the most intimate underground electronic show you’ve only seen in your wildest dreams.
Progressive House | Topher Jones feat. James Bowers – Save Me (Josef Belani Remix)
Posted by Mel on May 22, 2013
After listening to the remix package to Topher Jones’ “Save Me”, 21 year old Spaniard Josef Belani’s remix is without a doubt my favorite. I would be lying if I said it was unique because it isn’t. It’s what every good house song sounds like these days. Nevertheless, this is still a great remix. As well as featuring the catchy vocals of James Bowers and a build you could bathe in, this has everything you would expect from a great house track.
