We first introduced you to Miami native Havok Roth with his “Elastic Heart” remix, but now the trap producer has graduated from remixes to originals. Just in time for the biggest party in dance music taking place right now in his hometown, he drops this huge original that shows his creativity and ability as a producer. He builds the tune around a vocal that Havok Roct says he “found lying around” and a foreboding melody over an energetic low end and intermittent bursts of unremitting 808s. His single with Matt Nash “Starlight (Could You Be Mine) from the summer was a big hit across the festival circuit and is getting a re-release. Yes this tune has been remixed to death ever since it came out, but I implore you give this remix from Peter Brennan & TCUP a chance. Instead of just going with the standard version of the original and remixing that, they use a cover from Jasmine Thompson, which suits what they do with the song much better than the vocals from Passenger. The two producers gradually ease you into the remix with a soft bed of pianos and synth chords that nestle underneath Jasmine Thompson’s vocals before an onslaught of fast paced plucks come at you in the drop. 17 year old French progressive / trance producer Matt Fax has been making a name for himself with his soothing, progressive trance sound that has labels and artists clamoring for him to remix their tunes. At the tender age of 16 he was the youngest ever guest mixer on Above & Beyond’s syndicated radio show “Group Therapy” that reaches 20 million people a week worldwide.
I think age is too often used as a marketing strategy for DJs and artists when they are young, but in the case of Matt Fax it is relevant to dwell on for a moment because he has already accomplished so much for his age, having started his career at 13. His tunes have been supported by the likes of Armin, Above & Beyond, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and many others. His tracks have been released by all of the labels he could ask for like Anjunabeats, Armada, Black Hole and more. His career is only going to get bigger and better as time goes on and we got to chat with the Frenchman about his time as a label head, future plans and much more. Read on for the interview.

Barcelona are a group that’s sound rely heavily on piano’s so it makes sense for their style to translate to dance music remixes. Today we have for you the exclusive download of a progressive remix from Ted Hunter & Spencer Baird of the 2007 “Please Don’t Go” by the Seattle 4-piece band. They keep much of the original in the breaks, adding gentle piano that melds just right with the soft vocals from Barcelona and injecting an easy going synth melody to the crescendos. Pop smash “It Won’t Stop” from Sevyn Streeter & Chris Brown’s gets a progressive makeover from Sevag. Sevyn Streeter wrote on several of Chris Brown’s recent hit singles like “Yeah 3x”, so the original collab was bound to happen. Sevag works with the original, but adds a punchy, bouncy bass line and remakes the melody to fit his vision. If you are looking for a refresher of this tune, or a remix that makes excellent work of pop vocals, this one is definitely for you.
