As a Trojan, it always makes my day to see another member of the Trojan family succeed, and as a blogger, it’s in my civic (collegiate?) duty to support any fellow Trojans in their endeavors. Justin Jay was, by no means, an unknown when he was an undergraduate student at USC, considering his first-ever dirtybird release came his freshman year after he sent a demo to Claude VonStroke himself. Now, four years later and diploma in hand, Justin Jay is bringing it back to the imprint that started it all for him with his Mom, I Graduated EP. The young phenom unveiled the lead single off of the EP, “Hit It,” a few weeks ago, but now, he’s showing off another underground weapon in “Rain Dance.” Tribal influenced synths drive the track through twists and turns of bubbling bass lines and groove-driven melodies, and Jay even pushes his comfort zone by sampling his own voice for the first time ever on a track. The full EP is out now on Beatport, so don’t sleep on it!

The youngest of Claude VonStroke’s proteges, Justin Jay, has been having one of the best years that a recent college graduate could have. In addition to several releasees like his Momentum EP, he’s played Coachella, Holy Ship!, and the Desert Hearts Spring Festival, amongst many other good looks on the touring front. Even still, he’s only getting started as he just announced his Mom, I Graduated! EP, which marks his return to the infamous Dirtybird label, as well as a world tour with stops in England, across North America, and abroad. The new EP begins with a song called, “Hit It,” and it’s huge, tech-house stomper that’s been tested and proven at Dirtybird BBQs. With this news, we can’t wait to see what else Justin Jay has in stored. The Mom, I Graduated! EP will be released on September 14th, and all of Justin’s upcoming tour dates can be seen after the jump.

Bass, Electro-House, House | Apashe Turns Up The Heat With His “Pump This” Remix For Label Mate Snails

Apashe and Snails relationship goes back further than this remix. Both artists have been on the Kannibalen Records roster since it’s beginnings, and now they teamed up for something for the OWSLA crew. Last year, Snails and HeRobust dropped “Pump This” and took the world by storm. This year, remixes have been commissioned, with Apashe being one of the cat’s who had a stab at it. Let me tell you, he absolutely destroys the competition with his fiery interpretation that mixes heavy bass with his own brand of house. From beginning to end, Apashe will have you dancing with his multiform production that stays fresh the entire way through. Listen now, and grab the pre-order below if you want the track delivered to you on August 18th when the full EP drops.

Electronic | The Delta Mode’s Progressive-Deep House EP ‘Wake Up’ Hits The Spot

Deep house is gaining more momentum, but progressive seemed to be going by the wayside, until The Delta Mode released their new EP.

Wake Up EP features both, and both are in excellent form. We posted an early trap-heavy remix from The Delta Mode earlier in the month, but house may be more of there forte.

Either way, this album hits hard, on many levels. I went into with moderate expectations and came out a changed man.

Future Funk | EDEN Brings Together Future Bass With Pop Vibes On “End Credits”

It’s rare to find an artist with stand-out skills in singing, songwriting, and production, but Jonathan Ng, better known as the artist, EDEN, has found his niche by delivering a sound that blends elements of indie, pop, and dance to create a stunning product. His EP, End Credits, shows off his various abilities, as he weaves together future bass with infectiously catchy pop croons and an indie coat – and the lead single and title track of the EP is a lesson in EDEN’s music. “End Credits” comes off as a pop anthem early on, but it quickly morphs to incorporate elements of future bass to create an interesting dynamic. “End Credits” is the third of seven singles to be released off the EP, so keep an eye out for more out of EDEN.

Pop | Duke Dumont Transports Us To 80’s Pop Greatness In “Ocean Drive”

Posted by on August 2, 2015

There are artists and songs in that have the power to transcend the dance space and set their own trends. Blase Boys Club’s Duke Dumont is one of those artists. He doesn’t post meme content. He doesn’t drop a weekly podcast. He doesn’t drop a new track every month. His releases are few and far between, which signals a higher level of care and quality to the music. Case and point: Duke’s new 80’s pop inspired “Ocean Drive” single off his forthcoming “Blase Boys Club Pt. 1” EP. When the entire dance space is zigging, Duke is zagging, which is why we love him. We expect this tune to be a massive one.
