3LAU’s “Is It Love” has become one of the feel good tracks of the summer, and today the remixes were finally released for it! First up is Jenaux’s funky take on the track that truly brings out the emotion of the piece but also allows the opportunity for a dance floor smashing drop. Fresh off the release of his first original in over a year, “Get It On” (which you should all check out by the way), Jenaux combines his signature guitar and breakbeat rhythms in this remix which is sure to be a hit. We’ve come a long way since the days of listening to disco, house, and techno in illegal warehouse parties, but the soul and emotion of dance music has never changed. As dance music has grown bigger and bigger, producers have looked outside of traditional genre boundaries, bringing together different elements of various genres to create more innovative, niche sounds. Michael Calfan has been exploring deeper sonic territories of house lately, combining deep house with elements of big room to create what he dubs “soul house.” His latest track, “Mercy,” is soul house at its finest, as Calfan layers a piano-driven melody with an old-school vocal sample and blaring horn arrangements that gives the track a sunny personality.

Clinton Sparks is taking a stand against human trafficking in his latest music video, “The Reaper” featuring Snoop Dogg and Problem. In his cunning new visuals, Sparks plays a man out to save a group of girls from being kidnapped and sold. It’s an extremely personal video for the Boston based DJ/producer as he’s currently working with a non profit Not For Sale and wants to continue to help those who have been through similar traumatic experiences.
“My whole life is about evoking emotion and I’m being selfish by keeping this in and not sharing it. There could be somebody out there who hears my story and they see how happy and successful I am and say, ‘He did it, so can I’.”

When I covered Dan Sieg’s A Sense Of Wonder I never thought I would one day be posting up a track I can easily refer to as one that qualifies parallel emotion. Blugazer’s remix to this beautiful track is pure magic. Adding his own simple touches Blugazer transforms “Horizons” into a translucent love piece, with perfect transitions and added chimes and chords that just carry me away. With such sensation backing this remix, I can’t seem to take it off repeat.

This track is made for those long days that carry into what seems like an endless night. Another track from the combines of Pineapple Digital, the synths take samples of dub, progressive and trance, creating musical fusion. A track wouldn’t have that Sunny Terrace vibe without the gentle touch of piano chords and an uplifting melody that prompt fearless emotion. This remix is another powerful track from his productive studio and I, as per usual, look forward to what Sunny Terrace has in store for 2015!
