Albums | Is this the future of EDM events?
Posted by BIGLIFE on September 26, 2012
“Fantazia 360” by NV Concepts (explained in the video above) ventures outside the norm by incorporating a theatrical experience into its show. The goal behind their movement is obvious; to supplement the monotonous stage productions seen elsewhere and start a new breed of EDM events. Will Fantazia 360 set a new precedent? Will Tiesto, Avicii, Dada Life, etc start to feature the likes of acrobats and fire breathers? I think NV Concepts is moving in the right direction by trying to add more performance value to shows so I’d like to see this progression come to fruition. However, I’m weary that the unauthentic party goers of our time will continue to settle for less.

Events, FYI | Grand Opening: Echostage D.C.
Posted by Spice on September 19, 2012
To live in D.C. is to get some of the very best electronic music acts brought to your front door.
Yes, I realize that some of you may be raising your eyebrows right now (looking at you, New York), but trust me. We’re quietly killing it down here, and it’s all thanks to a little outfit called Panorama Productions, the brains and brawn behind promotion company Club Glow, which has been connecting the nation’s capital with the genre’s biggest names since 1999. This Saturday, things are going to get even more serious: Club Glow will preside over the launch of D.C.’s first EDM venue, Echostage, a roughly 4000-capacity space with an equally massive sound system that will host huge billings every week. For district area dance fans, this is literally monumental. Club Glow has been operating primarily out of Josephine and Fur Nightclub for the past few years, and the recent explosion of dance music has made the need for a bigger and better venue that much more urgent.
The Echostage launch party kicks off this Saturday with Sander Van Doorn and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, and the calendar shows no signs of slowing down; Dada Life, Armin van Buuren, Avicii, Dirty South, and Tiesto are already lined up, and we’re still in the very early days. If you live in the Midatlantic and are starved of that 128 bpm fix, head over to Echostage’s website and Facebook page and scope the details — because this is about to be big.
Dubstep, Featured | Featured Artists: KillSonik
Posted by Mach on September 13, 2012
KillSonik are now on their way to becoming one of London’s greatest Dubstep duos. Members, Luca Gulotta and Joe Erskine disappeared for a short time, to which it was feared they broke up their legendary group, Chasing Shadows. To the delight of Dubstep fiends across the world, the duo rose like the universe’s largest known star, NML Cygni, obliterating eardrums throughout the world with incinerating, fiery bass. As their most recent remixes have shown, everything these two touch turns to pure diamonds. Their solid, unbeatable releases have blown the minds of all who are fearless to experience a whole other level of one of EDM’s most controversial genres.
Signed exclusively to Chase & Status’ MTA Records, KillSonik’s debut EP, “Bloodlust,” dominated the Dubstep charts, showing the world that the duo was here to make an impact, and here to stay. Their most recent release, a remix of Calvin Harris’ “Well Be Coming Back” featuring Example, still resides on Beatports Dubstep Top 100 and just a few days ago, KillSonik’s sophomore EP, “Where The River Runs Black,” was announced. It is said to be releasing on MTA Records sometime this October along with their gargantuan official remix of Linkin Park’s “Lost In The Echo,” releasing October 6th. In addition to all these Dubstep releases, KillSonik has their first Drum & Bass remix of Sub Focus’ upcoming track “Tidal Waves” featuring Alpines, releasing November 4th.
There is no doubt that this year is going to belong to these soon to be tyrants of bass.

Mixtapes | Treasure Fingers – SOLE Fixtape Vol. 2
Posted by Juicebox on August 16, 2012
This is probably one of my favorite collabs we’ve ever done…the gentleman over at Solé Bicycles (click the link, trust me) have just recently kicked off the Solé Fixtape Series — “a curated monthly mixtape series with the sole purpose of pairing our favorite cruising tunes with the innovative artists of our generation.” The release of their first installment of the Fixtape Series was a sun-drenched, tropical mix put together by Los Angeles based DJ Tropicool. They raised the bar with their second installment by tapping the talents of the “connoisseur of funk himself” — Treasure Fingers. As the name suggests, this mix takes a turn for the downright funky, dropping a vast amount of genres; from disco and house to electro and all sorts of other EDM. Download the mix here and check it out below. These guys have been featured in Vogue Magazine & had a feature from Beats by Dre; it’s only right for us to team up with them. Expect some custom FNT fixie bikes from SOLE as well as a few giveaways in a few short weeks. Give the post a “like” and respect the movement!
Progressive House | Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl feat. Georgi Kay – In My Mind (Walden Remix)
Posted by Spice on August 7, 2012
If you’ve been to any music festival with an EDM billing since Ultra, you’re probably incredibly tired of hearing Axwell’s remix of “In My Mind.” I feel you. I’m really sick of it too. Fortunately, talented newcomer Walden has managed to inject new life into this track with a bright, orchestral remix that keeps the vocals intact but alters just about everything else. He has definitely thought outside of the box here and it really shines through in those dramatic (and dramatically different) chord progressions. If you’re not up to speed on Walden, you should check out his past releases (pro tip: free downloads galore…) because this young Australian is definitely on the verge of breaking into the major leagues. Hey, when you’ve got an exclusive deal with Beatport to remix one of the biggest tracks of the year, you know you’re well on your way.
Trap | Flosstradamus – Rollup (Baauer Remix)
Posted by Sev on July 25, 2012
The hype that has been building around this up coming Trap-style artist lately, Baauer, is crazy. Every single one of his releases are being played out by all the big EDM artist, which says something in itself. Just 6 months ago nobody knew who he was or what he was doing and now people are going crazy over his sensational Trapt out tracks. The Trap movement hasnt completely won me over yet, but I will give it some more time. In the mean time this remix of Flosstradamus’s Rollup is a pretty sick remix by him. It is definitely on some next level hip-hop stuff.
