This image above accurately depicts my hiearchy of diversified beats for ’12. Call me weird, but I like to hear tracks as though they’re alive… as if a monster is trying to express itself through sound. This has the most chilling effect, and all these have that. Honourable mentions go to an abundance of EDM tunes that don’t appear on the list. I am forever indebted to that insane energy; no other genre can comprehend, but for now let’s have some alternative listens.

In this latest installment of Kaskade Mash-Up Mondays (yes, it’s Tuesday…who’s counting), the man/myth/legend that is Ryan Raddon brings you the literal definition of an auto-download. “Move For Me” is one of the most recognizable and well-loved tracks in recent EDM memory. “The Legend” is progressive house at its riveting, melodic best. We are teaming up with Stereoshock to give you his latest edit as part of the second installment of his EDM cares campaign to help raise awareness and funds for important causes. In tune with the holiday spirit, he has partnered with Toys for Tots to raise awareness and funds for this great endeavor. This edit flawlessly meshes Hardwell’s edit of Michael Brun’s “Dawn” and Mr Fluff’s “Fearless Hearts”, picking a piece of a bass line here, a melody here and composing what sounds like one whole song and done with such ease that you hardly notice and any transitions. Electro, Preview | The Rolling Stones – Doom And Gloom (Benny Benassi Remix)

I love The Rolling Stones, and considering Benny Benassi’s recent track record, I was extremely nervous clicking play. Benny clearly is trying to match his style with the changes that most EDM has made over the past few years. I can happily say that I think he found his sweet spot in his future in Electronic music. This remix is gold. Benny matched the instrumentals flawlessly to Mick Jagger’s voice and even gave the remix a little bit of that Rock and Dance vibe that The Rolling Stones were famous for. The remix releases on December 9th through Universal Music, think of it like an early Christmas gift.
Dubstep, Trance | Elliot Berger Ft. Thallie Ann Seenyen – Hanging On

It is hard to get enough of this perfect genre blend. Trance and Dubstep were meant to be together because the child they produced is one of the most incredible sounds to come into EDM. Elliot Berger went all in with this original and Thallie’s vocals were just the icing on the cake. How do you like your emotions served? I prefer mine with smooth bass.

Drum & Bass | Ed Sheeran – Give Me Love (New Machine Remix)

This is a huge Drum & Bass remix. Ed Sheeran always seems to pull in an artist that seemingly floats under the radar, but does one of the most incredible remix jobs. New Machine owned this track with featured MC, Mic Righteous. The UK leads the world in EDM, lucky bastards.
Dubstep | Konec – Cascade EP

Rising star Konec has just released his first EP entitled Cacade EP, out not on ‘Dub-All or Nothing’. Most well known for his laser filled remix to N*ggas in Paris that has been rinsed out by xKore during his FP tour sets; that remix barely scratches the surface of what he has in store. This EP has a nice 16-bit/old school video game theme to it that won me over after my first play of Cascade. The intro to Cascade lures me into the track every time, and not to mention the amazing melody and transition into the intense drop. With Jaguar there is more epic feel throughout, with pauses in the intro between chords. After we have the suspenseful build-up complete, we get a taste of the drop a few seconds before, after which we are hit with the heavy growl along with some jaguar sounds between. The amount of detail in both tracks is outstanding, and each listen through you notice more and more. Along with the two originals we also have two fantastic remixes provided by Poisound and Centra. Poisound takes Jaguar and gives it his usually deathly drumstep touch to transform the track into a fast paced banger. Centra’s remix to Cascade is more along the lines of his uplifting style of DnB with a nice nero-funk styled drop. Be sure to grab this EP off of Beatport HERE, or iTunes UK HERE, or iTunes US HERE.
