Hip-Hop, Rap | GoldLink – They Don’t Like Me
Posted by admin on July 24, 2013
Over the past few months we’ve seen music take numerous cities by storm. First, Seattle’s movement lead by Macklemore, followed soon by a Chicago campaign spearheaded by Chance the Rapper and Chief Keef. Now bloggers and fans wait anxiously, all in hopes that their hometown is the next to take over. I, admittedly, am one of those bloggers. However, I know the DMV is next to pop where as most other people are just hoping.
Today I bring you “They Don’t Like Me” the newest song from Virginia resident, GoldLink. Although I can be quick to place an artist in a box with similar sounding acts, I can’t quite put my finger on GoldLink’s sound. His delivery and cadence control is that of a rap veteran, with each line punctuating the Skywlkr beat with force.
“They Don’t Like Me” is just a taste of what this kid can do, so stay tuned for some of the full-length tracks that he’s got coming, because from what I’ve heard it won’t be long before GoldLink is a name that will be popping up on a regular basis.
Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Beau Young Prince & Kruisemode – Tapestries and Javelins
Posted by J_Salzer on July 23, 2013
I know that Juicy J has coined the term “stay trippy,” but I think if anyone other than Taylor Gang’s favorite stoner fit the mold for that motto, it would be Beau Young Prince. BYP is all about spreading positivity and good vibes and it’s really a movement that fans can grapple on to. His latest mixtape, has all of those elements. Tapestires and Javelins gives us a look into the mind of the DMV native and shows us what he has to offer. The result, could not be more impressive. I’ve been following BYP’s career since I started blogging and I believe that this is his best project to date. The project is embedded below, but take a trip to Datpiff to fully download this masterpiece.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Wax – Toothbrush [Music Video]

Coming off a humorous summer single, “Rosana”, Big Wax recently returned to the screen with another comedic single revolving around his Mrs. Butterworth’s ball and chain. The DMV native raps about the overwhelming discovery of his girl’s toothbrush in his bathroom, flossing out his competition in the process. It’s obvious Wax feels the relationship is moving faster than he anticipated, which provides a plot for his newest sing along. Wax’s third-coming project, Coming… is due to drop January 15.
Hip-Hop, Pop | Marcus Canty – In & Out ft. Wale
Posted by Grubeats on July 11, 2012
Marcus Canty is undoubtably destined for success. He proved that when he first showcased his powerful voice and on stage “swagger” during his tenure on the X-Factor. Alongside fellow contestant and now label-mate, Chris Rene, Industry exec, LA. Reid signed Canty on to Sony’s Epic Records with a clear vision of molding him into the next big male R&B/pop star. Canty may be In & Out of love, but it appears he’s in music for life. Score Wale with an assist on Canty’s first official single release. DMV unifying with strength as always.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Wale – The Eleven One Eleven Theory [MIXTAPE]
Posted by BIGLIFE on August 17, 2011
Wale exceeded my expectations with this project. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the DMV, I was introduced to Wale at an early age and, of course, was surrounded by fellow fans. When I went off to different areas I realized his music wasn’t as well received as I had previously thought. In a way, Wale was stuck somewhere between a C and B list artist. Now that he’s signed to the hotter than ever Maybach Music group, I think he’ll be able to solidify his B position. As I mentioned above, The Eleven One Eleven Theory is an impressive project that our fans should dig; it’s packed with catchy samples and fresh bars. If you like Wiz, chances are, you’ll feel this. Below are my favorite cuts, let us know what you think in the comments section!
