Electro | Diplo – Express Yourself Remix EP [Album]
Posted by Jess on March 19, 2013
Diplo just released his Express Yourself Remix EP today. The EP is an impressive collection of 7 brand new remixes from a wide variety of producers including the much sought after Gent & Jawns Trap remix. Current mega producer DJ Mustard of “Rack City” fame flips “Express Yourself” into a nasty bass heavy hip hop instrumental while Bot transforms “Butters Theme” into a dark house club anthem. Packed in the middle are 4 huge remixes from Sleepy Tom, TheFatRat, CRNKN, and Expendable Youth & Krusha all taking the original into a new genre. Stream the EP below and purchase it on Beatport.

Dubstep, Electro-House, Preview | Skrillex – Puppy
Posted by Mach on February 18, 2013
Well it seems that Skrillex may have an album coming this Summer. It is about time he started to make releases from his massive vault of tracks. The video is a commercial for G-Star Denim, which features the first known single that may or may not be a part of the album. “The Art of RAW,” (clearly a play on words of the book, “The Art of War”), is described by Skrillex as a blend of Electro-House, Dubstep, and fidget. An interesting blend for sure, I am happy that I actually enjoy this clip. The “Bangarang EP” was boring in my opinion, it baffles me that Skrillex managed to pull a Grammy from the title single. A creatively wild track such as this only leaves me wondering if an album would be all that we have been hoping for over the past 2 years. At this point it’s hard to say, and just as Skrillex has stated LPs in the past, this Summer could end up another disappointment. I’m sure there is just a lot of confusion between his upcoming Dog Blood releases and his new project with Diplo and A-Trak.
Edit: Well, it turns out that the track is not called “The Art of Raw” but is in fact named “Puppy”.

We now know that the minimalist festival track will be released February 25th, making it a prime time cut for WMC and Ultra and will round out a great month for Size with “Swoon” coming on Monday. To celebrate the news, Henrix is giving out a free track “Miami Rising” that is a departure from his hard hitting percussion laden beats for a more melodic piano driven track, showing the diversity of his productions. Events, Review | Afrojack, Diplo & Rusko invade Pier 94 For A Pre-New Years Party To Remember

Accompanied by Sazon Booya, Leroy Styles & Bobby Burns, Afrojack, Diplo & Rusko came down on Pier 94 in New York City on the eve of New Years Eve with a vengeance, displaying a wide variety of different styles and genres across this outstanding lineup. The venue was also playing host to Afrojack’s Jacked NYE party the following night, which went off with a bang, but no expense was spared or production lost on this night with 3 stars taking the stage. While it may have been the night before the biggest party night of the year and one might expect people to spend the night gearing up for NYE, but that did not stop the thousands of concert goers from seeing Diplo, Afrojack, & Rusko put on a clinic at Pier 94 well into the early morning. Leroy Styles & Sazon Booya got things started as the crowd started to file in at the 8pm, mixing in a steady pace of moombah and electro, keeping the growing swell of people moving and getting them warmed up for the main acts about to grace the decks.

House | Mimada’s Top 12 for 2012
Posted by mimada on January 5, 2013
With the renaissance of music festivals and growing popularity of electronic music, it’s safe to say my attendance to live shows grew exponentially in 2012 (not that I had that many years under my belt to begin with). However, this really changed my perception of music and how I listened to it. Before, I would see an artist based on my familiarity with them and listen to their songs on repeat in the parking lot until moments leading up to the show. Now, it’s more so that I attend a concert based on the artist’s live talent and/or how much fun the performance will be. When I hear their songs in the future, I get sentiments of that first time I heard it sitting outside in a grassy field surrounded by flag holders or squished up against girls in moonboots rather than it’s premier on SiriXM radio. For me, music in 2012 was not about what would get me out of bed in the morning or play in the background at the gym while I worked out: it was what I could dive into and take me away from any known reality. I guess it’s always kind of been that way, but once you get a peek at my top 12, I think you’ll understand what I mean.
