Electronic, Videos | MØ x Diplo – XXX 88
Posted by mimada on September 10, 2013
While certain big-name female celebrities continue to slowly chip away at the world’s image of a role model woman (not pointing any fingers this time), 2013 has fortunately reeled some incredibly talented female acts into the spotlight who go above and beyond to compensate for the wreckage. See: Banks, Jessie Ware, Charli XCX, Lorde, Aluna Francis, just to name a few. And adding to the list I present to you my latest female vocalist of interest, Danish electro-pop songstress MØ (pronounced “moo”). Take one part Scandinavian sweetheart, one part sultry temptress, top it off with a fat gold chain and a ponytail and you’ll get this bonafide badass singer. Check out the video premier of her latest track titled “XXX 88,” produced by the one and only Diplo and you’ll get a feel for what I mean. And if you still want mo’ MØ, keep an eye out for her EP and album release later this season.

Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Moska Talks Beginnings, His Future and Dishes Advice to Other New Producers
Posted by Middy on July 26, 2013
Colombian producer Moska is a name being heavily supported by some of the biggest brands in the industry. At just 19 years old, his talents are nothing to ignore. Having already released tracks on Musical Freedom, Mad Decent and Mixmash, receiving heavy support from each of the label bosses, Tiesto, Diplo and Laidback Luke, and played or been scheduled to play at some of the biggest venues worldwide, Moska has his sights at the top of the dance music echelon. His genre-blending sound allows him to cross over to so many different styles, having already collabed with Tiesto on their remix of “Century”.
He plans to move to Miami by the end of the year to move his base of operations to one of the meccas of dance music today. One issue that has held him back is visa problems, specifically the O-2 visa that holds back his ability to work in the US. The O-2 is designed for people in the entertainment industry, notably individuals new or unrecognized in the industry as per the US government. Because of this, he has to be working alongside Laidback Luke, his current sponsor and any other work would be considered a violation of his visa. So shows, studio time and any professional work has to go through Luke, which can really hinder his growth as an artist here, especially when promotors want to book him. However all of this should be resolved with by the end of the year with many fees paid, lawyers hired, letters sent to the government by Tiesto, Laidback Luke & others, and pages, upon pages of documents sent, he should be fine to go on Laidback Luke’s Fall bus tour in October.
We had the chance to talk to him about his bright future, how he got into electronic music, working with Tiesto and some advice he gave for young producers, like himself.
Playlists | Diplo’s 102 Track Summer Playlist
Posted by Middy on May 28, 2013
There are few people with a better pulse on what is going on in the music world than Diplo, so for him to assemble 102 tracks in one space to play all at once is special. It is better than anything we would come up with, so just hit play and enjoy all 6+ hours of music wherever you are. Not all of it is downloadable, but some of the tracks are free, so peruse the list, spanning from dubstep to hip hop and get to listening to all 6 hours and 24 minutes. After the jump is the full tracklist.
FYI | Diplo & Skrillex form Jack U duo
Posted by Middy on May 2, 2013
2 of the three creators of the Potato Will Eat You project, Diplo and Skrillex have decided to join forces and form a duo named Jack U. The name first came up on the lineup for the San Diego Mad Decent Block Party and caused a lot confusion, but Diplo cleared it up on twitter saying “Jack u… Means skrillex+diplo together..”. This is not their first time working together — their collaboration “Amplifire” gained buzz back in the summer of 2011, but nothing has come of it, possibly due to sample clearing issues, a hot button topic these days. They will be releasing music on the Potato Will Eat You Youtube channel and will do the occasional live show. The only show that is currently scheduled is for the San Diego edition of the Mad Decent Block Parties.
It is hard to imagine they will have the time to release that much music together since each of them have their own very busy solo careers, are already members of duos, Skrillex in Dog Blood and Diplo in Major Lazer, and tour 300+ days a year. It will be interesting to see what comes of this, but if their past innovative style is any indication, we should expect some really cool, unique music from Jack U.
Events | Electric Zoo MainStage Lineup Announcement
Posted by Middy on April 9, 2013
In its 5th Year, Made Event‘s Electric Zoo recently announced its plan to create two main stages to try and augment the festival-goers experience and cements its place among the premier festivals nationwide. We are in the midst of a production and creativity arms race by various promotion companies like Ultra and Insomniac that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible every year. This latest attempt to do so by Made Event as it tries to compete with Ultra and EDC and their festival experiences is a great step in the right direction. Logistically, it will be interesting to see how they pull it off with the limited space on Randall’s Island. Today they announced the acts gracing the “East” and “West” main stages and they are working to give you your 330 dollars worth with names like Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Avicii, W&W, Tiesto, Madeon, Bassnectar, Hardwell, Diplo, Sebastian Ingrosso, and many more all heading to New York City for this Labor Day Weekend extravaganza. We are looking forward to seeing what comes from the rest of the stages. You have to give credit to E Zoo for announcing artist info so early, something very rare nowadays. Tickets are on sale now, so get them here.
