Hip-Hop, Videos | D-WHY – Flattery [Music Video]
Posted by Jess on March 31, 2013
After the success of his road-tripping music video for “2,000 Miles,” D-WHY is back with another cinematic piece for “Flattery” off of his debut project, Don’t Flatter Yourself. In the video, he chose a less joyous way to tell the story. This time, David “D-WHY” Morris takes on a James Bond-like character whose female companion gets into the wrong hands but little did they know, Morris is the one not to be messed with. Fitted with an ensemble from one of the finest suitmakers in the world, Brioni, along with other pieces from his own wardrobe, the self-dressed man and unsigned music artist is continuing with the monochrome, action-packed series he began with his “New York Times” video last summer. Check out the video and be sure to download his debut project below.
Electro-House | SAVOY & Bright Lights – I Dare You
Posted by Middy on March 11, 2013
Leaders in the blossoming Colorado dance music scene, Savoy make their debut on Wolfgang Garter’s Kindergarten Records with their new single “I Dare You”. Savoy reunite with Heather Bright or Bright Lights after collabs like “We Are The Sun“, who unsurprisingly lays down some stunning vocals over Savoy’s heavy instrumental that lets Heather’s vocals shine, while adding growling saws and thumping bass to this well layered electro track. Having just finished up their Live With Lasers tour, look for more original material to come from them before they get back out on the road. If you have not already grab their recent 4 track EP “Personal Legend” for free here.
Electro-House | DallasK – Vice
Posted by Middy on February 26, 2013
21 year old Orlando native, DallasK, flexes his production muscles again with his debut on Wolfgang Gartner led Kindergarten Recordings, “Vice”. The former DEFEP member and remix specialist releases a rare single in “Vice” that combines both big room elements and grungy electro house with driving synth chords and well placed electro growls with subtle piano driven builds. DallasK has long been viewed as one the more promising young US talents and “Vice” shows that his potential and hype are more than warranted.

Hip-Hop | mdnt – Dreamcatcher ft. Jez Dior [Music Video]
Posted by Jess on February 26, 2013
The enigmatic artist mdnt introduces himself with his debut single entitled “Dreamcatcher” featuring buzzing artist Jez Dior and production from SmarterChild. mdnt calls his music “Future Soul”, which he describes as a combination of soulful vocals with progressive electronic music. The song is incredible and a great debut from an artist that is definitely one to watch. “Dreamcatcher” is inspired by the passing of mdnt’s grandfather, which you can read more about below.
“My entire life I have been compared to all his positive attributes. He was a brilliant man, but he also possessed a deep well of dark traits that ostracized him from the family and contributed to his death. I had always wanted to talk with him, with the hope that understanding him would help me avoid or control the darker parts that I may possess as well. The video takes my initial insecurities about possessing the dark parts of my grandfather and manifests them in the masked figure terrorizing both Jez and myself.” – mdnt

Progressive House | First State feat. Sarah Howells – Seeing Stars

Dutch producer Sander van Dien, also known as First State, is a new name to me, but did he ever make a good first impression. “Seeing Stars” is the debut single off his upcoming album and it’s a good one. Sarah Howells provides superb vocals that are accompanied by beautiful piano work and atmospheric strings, leading to a build up composed of outstanding arps and claps and then climaxing into an uplifting drop. You won’t see me posting many Beatport tracks, but this one is too good not to share.
Progressive House | Michael Calfan vs John Dahlback feat. Andy P – Let Your Mind Go
Posted by Middy on February 11, 2013
Michael Calfan burst onto the scene with his debut single on Axtone “Resurrection” that still continues to see the occasional play and John Dahlback has become known for his prolific ability to produce unique tracks. The duo tab Andy P to add infectious vocals to this soaring melody with quick alternating percussion and a grungy build that has John Dalhback’s name all over it. Michael Calfan rarely puts out singles and when he does, they are quality, and when Dahlback puts his name on a track, you are going to hear something new and “Let Your Mind Go” gives you the mix of both of their talents.
