Cover, Hip-Hop | PropaneLv – Blood On The Leaves (Kanye West Cover)
Posted by Jess on June 25, 2013
It’s been 3 weeks since last heard from Lv. Word is, as he confirms in the video above, that he’s been in the studio with D.Shuts finishing up his debut album, Varsity Blues, due sometime in September. On another note, he really goes off on Kanye’s “Blood On The Leaves”. The vocals initially set a tone that is shattered when the beat drops. If you’re the impatient type just go straight to 1:14. Boom! #LTRMN.

Albums, Electro, Hip-Hop, Pop | 60 Sounds of Summer (Playlist)
Posted by admin on June 10, 2013
For most of you out there, summer break is already in full effect. Some of you, perhaps, have already hit the “what am I doing with myself” phase, and some of you are still basking in the “this is going to be the best summer, yet” mindset. Whatever the case may be, 60 Sounds of Summer is here for you.
I know I had you hooked at the words “summer” and “playlist”, but as icing on the cake, blogstar and milk enthusiast, Elliot Baumohl has come aboard in collaboration with myself to create this pièce de résistance. Elliot and I will now be known as “We Like Peach Rings“, a collective whose sole goal is to bring you the absolute best playlists on the web. 60 Sounds is our debut, so let us know what you think and perhaps we’ll toss some more together!
Ok, well, I could bore you with a ton of unoriginal buzzwords about summertime music, or you could just listen to this lovely playlist!
Hip-Hop | Wale — Poor Decisions (feat. Lupe Fiasco & Rick Ross)
Posted by jeffwbaird on June 3, 2013
Wale’s upcoming third album, The Gifted, is gearing up to be one of his most consistent projects to date. While his debut was uneven and burdened by too many crossover attempts, his second was too MMG-influenced and aggressive. The first three leaks we’ve received from this new album, though, have all had that soulful style of Wale’s, which was the signature of his successful early mixtapes. This is the first of two new singles Wale dropped today in preparation for his album’s June 25th release, featuring a smooth Jake One beat and a couple quality guest verses courtesy of Lupe Fiasco and Rick Ross. Gotta love Lupe’s “olly olly oxen free” reference and the way he flips the chorus at the end, and Rozay’s verse isn’t half bad, either. June is shaping up to be a wonderful month for hip-hop.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Kurt Rockmore – To Be King [Video]

While royalty is rarely served on a silver platter, NY native, Kurt Rockmore has his sights set on a gold plated crown. Early in 2013, Kurt released his debut project, Red Carpet Ignorance, which illustrates his opening with red carpet treatment. The project is sealed off with an outro track entitled “To Be King”. Above are the corresponding visuals featuring grammy nominated singer/songwriter Golden Chyl, as they collectively question what it takes to be king. Be on the lookout for Kurt touring the nation with Mike Stud.

Hip-Hop | J. Cole — Niggaz Know
Posted by jeffwbaird on May 30, 2013
Cole dropped this one less than an hour ago, and I’m already hooked. I haven’t been as excited for an album as I am for Born Sinner in a long time. Let’s be honest, we all know (Cole included) that his debut was a disappointment, but it’s easy to tell from “Miss America” and “Power Trip” and “Cole Summer” (i.e. everything we’ve gotten since) that he’s back to what he does best. He’s got the lyrical dexterity, wordplay, and reflectiveness that makes for the best hip-hop, and he produces for himself, which always leads to an amazing fluidity in sound. I love Kanye, too—but my prediction is that Cole will bring the better album on June 18.
Hip-Hop | Mac Miller — Objects in the Mirror [Live]
Posted by jeffwbaird on May 30, 2013
In anticipation of his upcoming tour and sophomore album, Watching Movies With the Sound Off, due out June 18 (along with Kanye West’s Yeezus and J. Cole’s Born Sinner), Mac lets go of a video in which he performs a new Pharrell-produced cut from the album. While I haven’t always been a fan, he began to show a lot of growth on Macadelic after his disappointing debut, and this song shows that he’s likely headed in the same direction. It’s easy to forget when you watch “Donald Trump” that this 21-year-old is actually a multi-instrumentalist and a pretty gifted songwriter, too. Can’t wait for June 18.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Dillon Cooper – State of Elevation [Music Video]

Brooklyn boy, Dillon Cooper, recently shared his second video single off his highly anticipated debut project, Cozmik. Similar to his first release, Survival of the Fittest, Coop flexes on a 90’s sounding beat by Muvafux. Dillon elevates from his previous releases with ingenious wordplay, a smooth hook and an non stop energy in front of the camera. Release date for the mixtape is still unknown, but I’m confident Dillon won’t release this until he reaches a state of perfection.
