Electro, Preview | Preview, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, R.I.O. ft. U-Jean, Mike Candys, & Denzal Park

Posted by on November 16, 2011

Preview above sounds promising though it feels a bit out of the ordinary considering Tommy Trash’s usual schizophrenic drops that consume his track record. It made its way onto Tiesto’s set so it must have reached an echelon. Release date is set for November 21st as the video entails. As above, you should not expect anything less from what follows below. All these tracks will strike you as splashes of guranteed happiness – my personal niche of sound. The Swedes are dominating the electro scene hands down. Sweden must have an excessive amount of ley-lines running through there. They genetically breed anthems; their expectations exceed the rest of the globe in terms of electronic music. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman from Stockholm have done a fantastic remix of Mikael Weermet’s track titled ‘Free’, who’s not living too far away in Göteborg. I’m still waiting on the release of his preview we posted earlier, which should be the finale of that segment of Adele remixes. Also, I’m a big fan of how the intro of this first track isn’t packaged with a mediocre beginning common among almost all electronic music.

It’s almost rude that credit is not given to Avicii for his hit record Levels by how blatantly obvious the inspiration behind this track is. Inspite of that, the cheeriness does win me over.

I excised out the start of this track to skip over the ever so generic intro of electronic music that you’ve heard well over a million times. Should you need the full version for whatever reason, drop me a line.
Download: Serge Devant – Sweet Harmony (Mike Candys Bootleg Rework) [W8 Edit]

I’m feeling this version a bit more than the original as it adds a little extra smile to the drop.

Hip-Hop | Chiddy Bang – Ray Charles

Posted by on November 14, 2011

Chiddy Bang just dropped the first single off their debut album, Breakfast, which has yet to get a release date. The track samples the soul legend himself. There is actually a funny story about how the guys got their inspiration which you can read about on Rolling Stone. As for the track itself, it doesn’t have the typical electro-pop beat that we’re used to getting from Xaphoon, but the track is dope regardless.

Albums, House, Trance | Solarity

Solarity’s recent release, “Anjunadeep presents Solarity”, was a compilation of their best tracks to date. They have a unique way of blending trance, house, and electronic music to develop smooth progressive beats. If you need to unwind, take a seat and listen. Cop it on Beatport here. My favorite cuts from the album:

RnB | The Weeknd ft. Lady Gaga & Illangelo – Marry The Night (Remix)

Posted by on November 2, 2011

Now here at FNT we aren’t always up to date on the newest Gaga tracks, but we sure as hell are on point whenever The Weeknd puts out some new material. Abel Tesfaye was commissioned to remix Marry The Night for an upcoming Born This Way remix album that Lady Gaga is putting out November 21st. With his echoing, gospel like background vocals behind Gaga’s originals, The Weeknd signature touch is felt throughout the track.

Hip-Hop | Common – Blue Sky (Music Video)

A few weeks ago we brought you Common’s smash single, Blue Sky, off his up coming album. Here are some dope visuals that the Chi-Town MC just released. He also announced that he will be pushing back the released date of The Dreamer, The Believer from November to December which is probably the result of him leaving his independent label to sign with Warner Brothers.

Hip-Hop | YONAS – Can’t Knock Me Down (Freestyle)

Posted by on October 27, 2011

YONAS is one full time baller.  He’s one of the most consistent, yet under looked and under appreciated artists in the game.  He constantly deliver’s quality and truth in his music.  Here’s the latest release from the Bronx MC, who gives us a freestyle to “Can’t Know Me Down”.  That’s really the approach YONAS has taken so far in his career and life certainly will never be the same for this kid.  Earlier this week he dropped a teaser to the video he recently shot for his remix to “Pumped Up Kicks”, which is tougher than any remix I’ve heard to date.  Be sure to stay tuned in to YONAS and I’ll be sure to share the video as soon as it drops.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Mac Miller – Party On 5th Ave (Music Video)

Posted by on October 27, 2011

[do action=”youtube” videoid=”kTZpscid3lg”/]

After hearing the rip of this track after it’s Hot 97 debut on Tuesday, Mac gives MTV the honors of releasing the official video.  This marks the third official single off Mac’s debut album, Blue Slide Park, and I believe it’s produced by E. Dan.  As BIGLIFE was saying the other day, I’m not sure this album is going to live up to it’s hype.  It’s hard to say because Mac’s mixtapes have been absolute gems, which makes me wonder, did he set the bar too high for himself?

I respect the fact that he’s not featuring any other artists on the album, which is extremely rare, especially for a debut album, but judging by what I’ve heard so far I’m slightly disappointed.  Frick Park Market is my favorite of the three tracks released to date and that hook sounds dangerously similar to “Donald Trump”.  I think Mac’s verses on “Blue Slide Park” and “Party On 5th Ave” have been on point, but the hooks are less than I expected.  In Mac’s favor, his single’s always seem to grow on me, so hopefully that’s the case with these.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Blue Slide Park thus far?
