Who is Mickey Kojak you might ask. Well he is a budding talent from Australia you should keep your eye on. He released stunning covers of Daft Punk and Mac DeMarco last year that need to be on your radar. Now he’s back with an incredible rendition of Dido’s classic song White Flag. He makes the song his own building a beautiful synth atmosphere that pairs wonderfully with his emotionally filled vocals. Have a listen above and grab your free download here.

Chill, Cover | Apashe & Cherry Lena Cover Classic “Feeling Good”

Posted by on November 16, 2018

“Feeling Good” was made popular by Nina Simone back in the mid 1960’s, but came out before that via a musical. Since those days it’s been covered by countless talents, but this newly released take by Apashe and Cherry Lena sticks out above the rest. Apashe’s tasteful interpretation of the composition matches the next level performance by Cherry Lena. Some might not think to put these artists with such names as Michael Buble, John Coltrane, MUSE and of course Nina Simone, but that’s just where they belong. So, click play and start feeling good!

Hip-Hop | SIDIZEN KING Flips The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” Into Hip-Hop Heaven

SIDIZEN KING, the LA-based hip-hop sage, follows up his cover of “Coming Over” with a charming flip on The Chainsmokers’ smash hit, “Don’t Let Me Down.” Teaming up with producer casualkimono, the two take their cover approach a little differently. SIDIZEN KING spits his silky lines atop an carefully crafted, ethereal hip-hop backbone that could stand on its own as a song, but casualkimono splashes’ a distorted version of Daya’s vocal atop with some of the original’s percussion sprinkled about.

Scrambling to be the first one to lock in a cover or official makes it easy to miss out on a fundamental part of the process, the music.

KOLAJ released this song after the wave of viral hungry artists pushed something simple out, so not only did KOLAJ miss the flood, but their keen ear for detail enhances the tune to such a point that they have created the best cover of the song to date.

Your favorite alternative/hip hop/reggae duo ACADEMY is back again, this time with a super fresh cover from the depths of the vault. This little ditty is a spin on the Temptations timeless song ‘My Girl‘ and is equally as addicting as their previous reggae cover of Biggie’s Juicy. My Girl, which was concocted by John That features good friend of ACADEMY and unknown to most, emcee Terrye who laid down some well written bars that fit the vibe of this song perfectly.

It’s been a while since we heard from Steve James, but man are we glad that he’s back! Teaming up with Jasmine Thompson, the two give us a brilliant take on The Weeknd’s “Earned It”. Wavering from James’s usual style (but in the best way), this cover still contains the Pittsburg producer’s signature melodic elements but contains a more ambient and atmospheric vibe. His production, combined with Jasmine Thompson’s beautiful vocals do The Weeknd’s masterpiece justice. This one is a free download, so check it out now and grab it before Soundcloud has their way with it!

Cover, Electro-House | Bee’s Knees & Scavenger Hunt Cover Janet Jackson

Last year Australian duo Two Can released a remix of Janet Jackson’s “Love Will Never Do” and it was really good, but after checking out Bee’s Knees new version of the 1989 release (released earlier this week) I have a new preference. Bringing on Jill Lamoureux from Scavenger Hunt to recreate Mrs. Jackson’s vocals and putting their own 80’s electronic feel on the production aspect, it’s an amazing piece of music.
