Hip-Hop, Rap | Ace Cosgrove – Long Kiss of Death (ft. Uno Hype)
Posted by admin on November 3, 2013
The DMV is next up. We’ve seen cities emerge this past year and show off their stars, but really and truly, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia is blossoming with so much talent that it is becoming impossible to ignore. At the forefront of the movement is the Hostile Youth clan.
Today I bring to you an offering from two of the Hostile Youth members, Ace Cosgrove and Uno Hype. The duo delivers a eerie track with a hint of jazz, perfect for your post-halloween festivities. The song clocks in at only 2 minutes, meaning there will hopefully be plenty more collaboration in the near future.
Chill, Electronic | Mr Fijiwiji – Friends EP
Posted by BP on October 16, 2013
Whenever Mr FijiWiji puts out something new, it’s killer. This album includes collaboration tracks with other artists, presumably why the EP is titled, “Friends”. Each track is very emotional and you can hear Mr Fijiwiji’s chill influence in every one. I can’t pick a favorite from this album because really all three tracks are fantastic. This chill EP is out on Monstercat Records so be sure to pick a copy and support!

Electronic | FLXXDS- Two Coins (City & Colour Cover)
Posted by BP on September 24, 2013
FLXXDS is a three part project made up of Gazzo, Crywolf, and half of PRFFTT & Svyable. Their cover of “Two Coins” gives the beautiful original track by City and Colour a new electronic twist. It’s fresh and clean while the melancholy vibe of the original track is still kept in tact. I’m excited to hear more from this new group! This one’s free so check it out!

Progressive House | Teqq vs Alive&Kicking – Mistake
Posted by Mel on August 26, 2013
Teqq and Alive&Kicking are both producers who I don’t know much about. Teqq is from Germany and Alive&Kicking is American as far as I can tell. That’s really all I know. W8, back in the day when he was into this genre first shared Teqq with me and I have been keeping an eye on him since. “Mistake”, his latest release is in collaboration with the aforementioned Alive&Kicking and I think his best work yet.

Alternative, Bass | Wax Motif & Neoteric – Das Machines
Posted by J-Tiffy on August 20, 2013
Two of the three head chefs at Main Course Records have tackled another project together. Their best known collaboration dish was the original version of Go Deep; the massive tune that received stellar remixes from Astronomar and, of course, Torro Torro. Today, they’ve released a special feature entree called Das Machines. This is a heavy dish, with a driving tribal feel. They use a myriad of vocal samples, cooked to perfection and served on a bed of industrial/mechanical sounding percussion, garnished with strange ambient noise. An order of the original version is also served with the “Epic Dub Version”, a spiced up mix of the original – it’s a party in your mouth. As Always, this dish can be grabbed for free, but be sure to support the kitchen with a purchase.

Drum & Bass | I Am Legion Ft. Strange U – Dust Descends
Posted by Mach on August 18, 2013
Noisia and Foreign Beggars strike gold, previewing another track from their collaboration group, I Am Legion. This isn’t your typical Drum & Bass tune. If deep Drum & Bass was an actual subgenre, this would be the defining track. We are just weeks away from these collaborator big album release on September 2nd. Bass music is about to have an entirely different face.
Progressive House | Paris & Simo, Merk & Kremont – Tundra

As their collaboration with 3LAU, “Escape” sits prominently at number 3 on the Beatport overall chart, Paris & Simo ride that wave of momentum into the release of another one of their highly coveted tracks, “Tundra”. First premiered by Fedde Le Grand on the MainStage at UMF, Paris & Simo team up with Italian duo Merk & Kremont to give us this bouncy track. “Tundra” combines grinding saws with a rolling bass line to give it an unmistakable groove, while still remaining tough enough for any venue. The Canadian duo are making a strong statement with back to back outstanding releases as they look to propel their careers to even greater heights.
