We’ve heard the previews, seen the videos, and felt the buzz for Electronic Chronic for nearly a year now. Chicago hip-hop head/house music connoisseur introduced us to the first of its kind, hip-hop/electro/house podcast series. Rather than releasing the conventional album or mixtape, Nay decided to align himself with some of the Windy City’s hottest DJ’s to bring us a series of mixes featuring both his vocals along with the host DJ’s choice of productions. Here we have the first of the series, which is 1 hour and 13 minutes of lyrically-infused house music hosted by DJ Martinson on the first half and Bad Boy Bill on the second half.
Since this is virtually the first of it’s kind, I’m interested to hear what the FNT faithful have to say about this project and it’s format. To go along with that, make sure you’re tweeting @freshnewtracks @napalmlive & @djBadBoyBill #ElectronicChronic to keep this project live!

With anticipation for a June 26th podcast premier, Na Palm has been grinding out long studio sessions with some of Chicago’s most recognized producers in hopes of opening some eyes and ears with the release of Electronic Chronic. As the video emphasizes Na Palm’s prolonged passion for EDM, he has begun morphing his sound from a heavy hip-hop foundation to a more EDM infused hip-hop sound. Below are the previous releases Nay has let loose, working off production from some of the industry heavyweights, Skrillex and Nicky Romero.
Events, Hip-Hop | Chance The Rapper – Cordial Invite
Posted by J_Salzer on June 2, 2012
Chance Bennett is taking the blogosphere by storm. After the wildly successful release of his debut mixtape #10Day, Chance decides to give my favorite song off the mixtape the cover treatment. His vocals can grab any willing ear, while his lyrics keep them listening. The hook and chorus of “Prom Night” was already phenomenal, but was made even better with Chance crooning it soulfully. Chance The Rapper is on the cusp of becoming one of my favorite rappers in the game, and this only helps his cause. For all of our FNT fans in Chicago, grab tickets to Chance’s show coming up next friday HERE. I’ve gotten word that Chance will be doing something extra special so all of our Chicagoites better be there. Be on the lookout for more Chance coming soon. Also, like his fanpage below so you can say that you liked Chance before it was cool.
Hip-Hop | Spenzo – Ova
Posted by dshaq on May 29, 2012
Chicago’s rap game is top notch. With big names like Chief Keef, Chance the Rapper, Kembe X, Lil Reese, and Lil Durk, Chicago is building some of the most promising new up and comers. What we have here is a brand new video from 16 year old, Spenzo. Absolutely murdering this beat, Spenzo shows off his phenomenal flow and nice word play. If this is any indicator of what to expect from this yungin, don’t be surprised if he’s the next Chicago rapper to blow up. Video shot by DGainzBeats.

Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, drops off visuals to one of the standout tracks on his latest mixtape, 10day. Directed by Elijah Alvardo, the video does a great job giving us that nostalgic feeling. For all you Chicago people, Chance will be playing at Lincoln Hall on June 8th, more details to come. Peep the video and if you haven’t downloaded 10Day, you can do that below.
Moombahton | The Very Best — Yoshua Aikuti (Nadastrom Remix) // Nadastrom “Moombahton Massive” EP
Posted by Spice on May 10, 2012
Nadastrom. My dudes. Moombahton has come an incredibly long way in the past three years, but had Dave Nada not hopped on the decks at that fated house party in 2009 we wouldn’t be talking right now. We love our moombahton here at FNT, so it seems only fitting now to take a moment to check in with the genre’s originators — who have big things in store for us in 2012.
To say that Dave Nada and Will Nordstrom have been busy lately would be an understatement. Their Moombahton Massive brainchild — a wild local dance party that has blown up venues in Miami, Austin, and Chicago — has officially gone international. They just kicked off a North American tour. Their record label, Diabluma Sound, is set to launch on May 22. And on top of all of this, they’re still hard at work. They recently dropped a compilation “Moombahton Massive” EP on Scion A/V in conjunction with some well-worn names (Sabo, Steve Starks, and JWLS), which highlights the genre’s funky, sexy, global roots. The EP is free (!!) and you can preview and download it here. They also just released a feel-good yet positively haunting remix of The Very Best’s “Yoshua Aikuti,” a catchy-as-hell song we suggested could be poised for a global takeover when the video dropped back in April. Nadastrom’s treatment is subtle, chilled out, and a wonderful showcase for Esau Mwamwaya’s soaring vocals. Want to inject some new flavor into your iTunes rotation? This is just the stuff.
Hip-Hop | Kembe X – Dont Quit (Ft. Alex Wiley) [Official Video]
Posted by dshaq on May 8, 2012
Reppin the Chi-town, Kembe X and pal, Alex Wiley hop on this smooth, laid back smokers anthem. Impressive flows from both guys keep us engaged throughout the whole song. Kembe created some buzz with his Dollar Please video, and this is a great follow up. Look for fellow Chicago native Chance the Rapper in the video too!
Shouts to Pat from SeeBeyondGenre for the track.
