Example has become one of the premier singers in dance music having just recently completed a sold out arena tour around Europe and his talent is on display with his collab with Calvin Harris “We’ll Be Coming Back”. Calvin Harris’ melody works incredibly well to accentuate Example’s vocals creating a track that has the potential to be the follow up to “Let’s Go” and “Feel So Close”. Calvin Harris may soon be entering the realm to hit maker whether he intended it or not with the way his productions are leading him. R3hab has two remixes on this package, the one above is the more heavily supported of the two with its progressive sound, especially for R3hab as he holds back from excessive use of saws and allows the melodies of the track to carry it to the finish line. The EDC Las Vegas remix uses his saws and has a harder, more electro sound to it. Michael Woods’ remix has a similar sound to R3hab’s EDC NY remix, though it adds a few different elements with some stops and stutters and a some different layered synths. Jacob Plant makes the heaviest of the remixes with very relaxing builds and interludes and then a heavy electro house drop with some moombahton influences in the second drop. Of the remixes in this package the Jacob Plant & R3hab’s EDC NY remixes take the cake for me, but they are all great and on the heals of Zedd’s “Spectrum” remix package coming out in two days, this will be a great week for remixes.

Featured, Progressive House | Introducing: Vicetone

I would like to introduce you guys to Vicetone, two 20 year old producers from Groningren in Northern Holland (they just keep on coming). Their productions are flawless with full bodied, top of the line melodies, crisp bass lines and well organized transitions, builds and breaks. They only have 3 productions on their Soundcloud page and they are all must haves — showing that they are only going to release their top of the line work. They use vocals just right, molding them to their deftly crafted melodies. Their most recent remix of Adele’s hit “Someone Like You” exemplifies that with a soft build with agile key play, dancing alongside the vocals. It then moves into a break of a sublime melody with intricate layers and a hard clap. The remixes of Flo Rida’s hit single “Whistle” and Calvin Harris & Ne Yo’s “Let’s Go” continue this trend of well crafted, uplifting melodies and superb bass lines. House, Progressive House | Florence & The Machine – Spectrum (Say My Name) [Remixes]

No stranger to notable remixes, Florence & The Machine have released the small yet important remix package for “Spectrum” with the more famous remix coming from Calvin Harris, and another from the rising superstar in deep house and tech circles, Maya Jane Coles. Calvin Harris puts together a piano house remix matching the melody with the eloquent vocals of Florence & The Machine. While the remix sounds remarkably similar to Avicii’s bootleg of “Sunshine” and “Spectrum”, this one has a more polished feel than the bootleg. Already getting some heavy support by big name DJs and BBC Radio One, this one will be one of Calvin Harris’ big festival hits this summer. Maya Jane Coles give us her deep house sound for something different from the norm with a very smooth relaxed feel of the track mixing well with the vocals.

Here at Fresh New Tracks, we’re all about posting the up and coming artists from a variety of genres. Despite having only 10k Facebook fans, I’m not sure if we can call FareOh “up and coming.” Not only is he signed with WME, but he’s also currently on Kaskade’s Freaks of Nature Tour as the main opener. Progressive House, Trance | Introducing : Moiez

It is really rare that I get a submission that makes me sit back in my chair and say “wow” and 19 year old Vancouver native Moiez Babar or Moiez did just that. With a combination of uplfiting trance and moving progressive tracks, Moiez is an artist that will we will be keeping an eye on. Judging by the soundcloud plays, this is a true introduction to the world for Moiez and his deftly crafted productions, though he has had some exposure in Canada. The two originals really stood out to me with “Sparks” being more along the lines of progressive house track and “Kismet” being more of a progressive trance track. They were both submitted to Tristan Garner’s Xtra Life contest, so if you read this Mr. garner pick Moiez.
“Spark” provides thoughtful vocals with a smooth build that cascades into a break of thumping bass, vocals, and synth chords creating a hands in the air melody. “Kismet” is more trancey with a quicker trance oriented bass line, soft, thoughtful interludes, quick key play with long synth chords and a driving bass line in the drop. The remixes are not to overlooked as well. Though Axwell & Henrik B will always remain kings for their remode on “Teenage Crime”, Moiez delivers a solid take on it. “Flashback” keeps much of the original melody, though he distorts it some to create a more fluid synth melody, while utilizing those very recognizable vocals. “Till Tonight” may be the best one, though it takes a while to reach the break. Also included is a teaser of his “Let’s Go” remix, which is being featured in the Beatport contest. Our bud DJ M2 recently submitted this for the Pepsi and Beatport competition, here’s what he has to say about the track “Using a bunch of melodic synth patterns with some heavy drums and subs, I combined the sounds of house and pop. My goal was to create something that can be played everywhere, from jamming in your car to rocking out in the clubs.
