Indie, Pop | Academy – Fine By Me
Posted by VMan on October 15, 2013
I’ve been listening to “Fine By Me” by the Academy for a few days, and the truth is it’s a great record. It has a reggae flavor and a dose of retro-funk, I’m feeling it. In my opinion, this hook is a hit, so damn catchy, just a cool vibe. The band is a duo Evan and Eli from Rhode Island whom are currently residing in Los Angeles, and Boston. Hopefully they put out some new tracks some time soon, it’s a great sound! Must listen and must download!

Dubstep | Terravita & Casey Desmond – Settle The Score
Posted by BP on October 14, 2013
This collaboration of Terravita and Casey Desmond, both from Boston, is a banger. If you’re familiar with Terravita, you’ll know that this track is not as heavy and frantic as most Terravita tracks are. Casey Desmond has an amazing voice that is showcased beautifully in “Settle The Score”. Her strong vocals sound fantastic with the growls and bass from Terravita. Lookout for remixes and a video in December on Firepower Records! In the meantime, this track is free to download.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Just Juice – Heart of Steel
Posted by admin on September 23, 2013
Some of you may remember Just Juice from the feature back on Fresh New Tracks a few months ago. Having undergone a name change to ‘Just Juice’ and done some serious maturing, it’s evident that the young man’s music has come a long way. “Heart of Steel” is the leading single off of his upcoming mixtape and really showcases what the Boston native has in store.
“Heart of Steel” features a well produced old-school instrumental from Ceej and Just Juice’s signature delivery. Juice has promised to give listeners “just [him], none of the other additives or bullshit, just juice straight from the heart and soul.” So be sure to check out the song below, grab the free download and stay up to date if you’re digging the sound!
Pop | St Lucia – Too Close
Posted by VMan on September 11, 2013
Ever since South African artist St Lucia was brought to my attention with the Xaphoon Jones remix of “We Got It Wrong,” I’ve kept a watchful eye on them. Today they blesses us with the release of “Too Close,” off of their debut full-length album “When The Night.” If you’re a fan of synth-pop, and feel like listening to a symphonic piece today, St Lucia’s got you! This is top-notch production. I look forward to hearing the album, and the bundle of remixes that will come about of this project! Must listen! After the jump check out their tour dates this fall.

I’ll start off by saying the song Timeflies teases us with in this tour announcement video sounds like crack on crack on crack. Recently sharing the news that they will be back on the road (yes, already), Timeflies will be joined by Chiddy Bang along with ________(undisclosed special guests) on a nationwide tour kicking off on Octover 9th in Boston. With the tour announcement also came the expected announcement that Timeflies sophomore LP, Warning Sings, is also en route for a fall delivery. Swoon ladies (and gents), swoon. Jump the break for the full tour schedule and grab your tickets here once they go on sale this Friday (pssst, check their Facebook & Twitter for presale passwords).
Hip-Hop, Videos | Dillon Cooper – State of Elevation [Music Video]

Brooklyn boy, Dillon Cooper, recently shared his second video single off his highly anticipated debut project, Cozmik. Similar to his first release, Survival of the Fittest, Coop flexes on a 90’s sounding beat by Muvafux. Dillon elevates from his previous releases with ingenious wordplay, a smooth hook and an non stop energy in front of the camera. Release date for the mixtape is still unknown, but I’m confident Dillon won’t release this until he reaches a state of perfection.
