Bass, Deep House | NVOY – Perspire
Posted by mimada on December 5, 2013
Just a minute late on this but NVOY’s style is so fresh, I’m not even phased. Last week the Nottingham duo dropped “Perspire,” which, compared to the tracks I’ve shared with you before, takes things to a level one deeper. Their touch on old school house vibes give it something that makes it sound brand new all over again. Give yourself some room to dance for this one.

Electro | Sampology & DJ Butcher feat. Beenie Man – Dancehall Queen (Akouo Remix)
Posted by mimada on November 11, 2013
Following the success of his previous FNT appearance, Tasmanian producer Akouo is back with another genre-defying remix. For those who haven’t heard, “Dancehall Queen” is this ridiculously turnt, Major Lazer-esque club reggae banger from Brisbane-based producers Sampology and DJ Butcher. There must be something in the water down under because I cannot keep up with all the talent Australia is turning out right now… Anyways, Akouo puts a darker, steadier, and more electro sounding spin on the original track, creating a more contrasting yet equally addicting remix. Check out the full remix EP on iTunes, featuring notable contributions from Artis and Tyler Touche, as well.

Bass, House | NVOY – Breathe feat. Jess Brinham
Posted by mimada on November 4, 2013
With the return of deep house music, sometimes we get carried away with the trend and forget what actually sounds good. Luckily the boys from the Oxford-based duo NVOY have us covered. Their style of “music for beautiful girls” can be attributed to house’s roots in the Detroit and Chicago, as well as UK garage. Each track is numbingly good, hitting that sweet spot like a piña colada on a summer’s day. For those of you that are nearing the end of your infatuation with Settle, look no further than NVOY. Check out their most recent releases below in addition to their available free downloads via Facebook.

This first track is their most recent and was featured on Skream & Benga’s BBC Radio 1 show. I lose it at the 2-minute mark.
This next track, “Is It Good,” is in fact, very good.
Drum & Bass | StoneBridge & Caroline D’Amore – Live Life (Studio-X Drum And Bass Remix)
Posted by VMan on October 10, 2013
The world is sleeping on this drum n bass remix by Australian producer Studio-X of StoneBridge & Caroline D’Amore’s “Live Life” record. StoneBridge is a legend in the EDM game, and I was introduced to Mrs D’Amore via her EDM show Heartbeatz Radio on Skee 24/7. Together they put together an uplifting house record to keep us all motivated, just like the hook says “live life…today!” Studio-X’s remix makes this track even bigger adding synths for melody, and speeding the track up a bit. No doubt about it, get this this free download, and blast this tune! Must listen and must download!

Electro, Trap | Laura Mvula – Green Gardens (Djemba Djemba Remix)
Posted by mimada on June 27, 2013
I admire Djemba Djemba as an artist for introducing me to other artists that aren’t on my radar that very well should be. Before listening to this remix, I checked out the video for “Green Gardens” (above) which features Laura Mvula and company dancing around in parking lots and a mysterious forest wonderland at dusk. Both the song and the video are really beautiful, actually, as is Laura herself. What’s also awesome about Djemba Djemba’s remixes is that they don’t take away from the quality of the original version. In fact, this track hardly references “Green Gardens” other than a select few of the lyrics. However, Djemba Djemba maintains the same bright and empowering vibes that make the original so unique and makes them work in his own way.
I have to say though… As great as Laura Mvula’s dance party looks, I think Djemba Djemba’s green garden is where it’s at.

Electro-House | Armin van Buuren & W&W – D# Fat
Posted by Spice on February 25, 2013
First things first: Armin van Buuren might have a production credit on “D# Fat,” but it ain’t trance. Nope, this collaboration with Dutch powerhouses W&W is electro to the core; in fact, it takes a leaf out of the book of “The Code” (another W&W special) and delivers a pounding bassline and hard-hitting, crunchy synth leads. Don’t let the piano riffs at the beginning fool you — this track packs a massive wallop and is sure to get dance floors moving as we head into the WMC home stretch. In all, “D# Fat” is a reflection of the next wave of progressive and electro house — it combines the best elements of both genres to great effect.

Dubstep, Electro | Wideboys – Addicted to the Bass (Svyable & PRFFTT Remix)
Posted by Mach on September 26, 2012
This remix is hot! Everyone seems to be blending Electro with Dubstep now, but in my honest opinion everyone is doing a terrible job at it. In addition, the Wideboys have some of the best tracks to remix, “Addicted to the Bass” being one of the best choices to test out this blend of genres. Svyable & PRFFTT shows us that there are still up and coming producers who know how to blend genres and come out with a quality track. This remix of theirs is full of energy, energy powered by bass in true style.
