I’ve been trying to make sense as to why I’ve been listening to this track on repeat by Yeo “Girl,” and the answer might just be that’s it a good record. Yeo is a songwriter/producer from Melbourne, Australia who performs all of his music with a live band. He’s been getting support from acts such as Adam Green and Kimbra, and if that’s not a co-sign to capture your attention, I’m not sure what will. If you’re into dream pop, and could use a nice record to calm your nerves on this Thursday afternoon, let Yeo take care of you. This is a must listen!

Following the success of his previous FNT appearance, Tasmanian producer Akouo is back with another genre-defying remix. For those who haven’t heard, “Dancehall Queen” is this ridiculously turnt, Major Lazer-esque club reggae banger from Brisbane-based producers Sampology and DJ Butcher. There must be something in the water down under because I cannot keep up with all the talent Australia is turning out right now… Anyways, Akouo puts a darker, steadier, and more electro sounding spin on the original track, creating a more contrasting yet equally addicting remix. Check out the full remix EP on iTunes, featuring notable contributions from Artis and Tyler Touche, as well.

Electronic, Trap | Papertoy – The Love

Surprise! I’m writing about another Die High release. “The Love” by Papertoy, from Sydney, Australia, is bouncy and light. It’s got some trap beats, but the synths make me want to put it in just an “electronic” category. The vocal chops are way cool, and the airy feel to the song is fantastic. Papertoy has lots of other excellent trap remixes on his Soundcloud, so check his page out if you’re feelin’ it!

Cosmo’s Midnight, like most upcoming Australian artists, is one of those artists who’s tracks you can pretty much always rely on to be ripper (that’s an Aussie slang term for “awesome” my friend Michael from Melbourne taught me). This remix by Willow Beats, who happen to also be from Melbourne, is a bit of a chopped & screwed remix, and I really like the edge it adds to it in contrast the v trill original. Free download to start your day off right.

This was a very hard to categorize track, but none the less very cool. “Dusty” by Just A Gent is out on Die High Records, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite labels. It’s got a unique ambient background with some crazy beats. Overall this is very chill song, a diamond in the rough. Just A Gent is sixteen year old named Jacob Grant from Newcastle, Australia. I was honestly shocked to see his age, because this track is so classy. He’s grabbed my attention for sure. Download this track for free on Bandcamp!

Australian producer L D R U has dropped yet another stunning track – shocker! His tropical remix of fellow Aussies, YesYou’s “So Much To Give” teleports you to a coastal paradise down undah while maintaing the high energy and passion of the original.

In an interview with Salicious Sound, L D R U revealed that his producing career began while recovering from a back injury during his time as an apprentice carpenter. Writing for FNT has its perks of hanging out with the dopest artists on the scene at the moment, and rolling with brothers Sketch and Tommy Shades, otherwise known as Bombs Away for a leg of their US tour was a true riot. You might not be entirely familiar with the duo other then the post FNT did a year back, but these guys are superstars in the land down under, have sold millions of records to date, are signed to Ministry Of Sound Australia, and love themselves some big booty bitches! After a 30 hour plane ride from Australia, straight to their performance at the Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, and a 2 hour drive to NYC, I had a chance to sit down with the guys, and ask them a few questions.
