Alternative, Pop | SomeKindaWonderful – Police
Posted by VMan on October 8, 2013
The 3 piece band from Cleveland, Ohio, SomeKindaWonderful sent over their GTA V inspired lyric video to their latest track “Police” and this is quality music. The sound is some kind of modern reggae mixed with soul and rock. Fun fact about this group, the lead singer Jordy Towers was signed to Interscope for a few years as a rapper, until he was dropped because he didn’t give in to industry demands to change his style. Could the camo butterfly logo be the symbol behind his transformation as an artist and what’s to come? I think it’s Interscope’s loss with this one, this band is the shit! Must listen!

Jitta is back with the next installment of his Studio Sunday series, this time laying his charismatic, internal-rhyme-laden bars over a few recent mainstream gems (“Shabba”, “New Slaves”, and “Backseat Freestyle”). Jitta continues to show his consistency and development as an artist here, refining his flow and including more advanced rhyme-schemes within his raps. Hit him up on Twitter to request songs you’d like to hear him go in over next week.
Albums, Electro, Trap | Banks – This Is What It Feels Like (Akouo Rework)
Posted by mimada on September 18, 2013
When getting acquainted with a new artist, I like to pay extra attention to any remixes they might’ve done, especially of songs I’m familiar with. Remixes give an insight to an artist’s style, as well as their creative limits and potential. So I was very drawn in first to find that Tasmanian producer Akouo’s (pronounced “ah-koo-oh “) selection of remixes made up of many of my personal favorites and second, that they were all super badass. I’ve had this Banks track on repeat for the past 72 hours and Akouo’s remix is exactly what I needed to change it up. It draws from the subtle hints of darkness in the ridiculously sexy original track and turns it out in a trippy, trap rework. And Akouo keeps you hanging on as the song develops more and more with each minute. It’s hot, and I’m hooked.

Ambient, Chill | Sean Kongery – Paper
Posted by admin on September 16, 2013
I’m excited to present to you today a beautifully constructed instrumental piece from the ever-so-talented, Sean Kongery. Although, I had heard Kongery produce other artist’s music and even unleash a few EDM remixes here and there, I had yet to hear a full out instrumental track made for “vibing”, “chilling” and other cool “ing” words.
As completely and utterly over-used that Biggie vocal samples are, Mr. Kongery managed to “wow” me yet again and put an interesting spin on the King of rap’s words.
Perhaps just as stunning as the song itself is the video done by Lake Effect Films. These guys pulled out all of the stops and really made a product worth sharing. Enjoy the video above and catch the audio below if you’re about that life.
Pop | Lorde – Team
Posted by VMan on September 13, 2013
A 16 year old girl from New Zealand has hit the music world by storm with her hit single “Royals,” and it doesn’t seem like the hype is going to die any time soon. Yesterday, Lorde released another track, “Team,” off her upcoming album Heroine. Truthfully I’m not sure I get the hype behind this artist, nor the hit-factor behind her tracks, though I can’t deny that I am impressed by Lorde’s talent, and how fast her music has taken off. “Team” is minimalist in production, layered with thoughtful lyrics, which are sung in a Lana del Rey fashion. Listen for yourself and let me know what you think: we like or nah??

Electro-House, Trance | Armin van Buuren ft. Cindy Alma – Beautiful Life (Protoculture & Mikkas Remixes)
Posted by Middy on September 8, 2013
Armin van Buuren’s second single from his fifth artist album “Intense”, “Beautiful Life” just got a small, but potent remix package from Protoculture and Mikkas. The Mikkas remix will be more popular with a wider audience, but the Protoculture remix brings out the best trance qualities this track has to offer, and then makes it even bigger. Mikkas adds his glitchy, electro-dub that has become quite popular on remixes like “Rewind”, while Protoculture adds a little more uplifting and goes for broke with as big a melody as you can get. Both remixes are very different and will appeal to different fans, but each are very, very good.
