The original has to be one of my favorite tracks from 2012 still being played on the festival circuit, and though to some the vocal might have just have just been a violation of the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality, I think it made a great song, even better. Moiez makes sure to keep the builds largely in tact and takes full advantage of John Martin’s vocals, while flipping the script on the drop, adding his own pounding snares and percussion and mixing in the searing synth chords from the original. This may not fit with all tastes, but I am sure it will be a breath of fresh air to all ears who have heard the original mix many, many times. It has been a little while since I have posted something from the Vancouver native, Moiez, but he has had a great 2013 making his way to the MainStage at Spring Awakening in Chicago earlier this summer, alongside names like the Bingo Players, Dirty South, Nero and Moby. Lana Del Rey has become the Adele of dance music remixes and it leads to some pretty egregious over-remixing, but do give this one a shot with its quick moving key play and a crisp bass line. In the future look for more remixes coming soon from Moiez and an official remix package for “Young and Beautiful” that includes one from Kaskade.

Canadian Moiez is back with another remix coming off of his first batch of shows in Vancouver, this time of Rihanna’s recent single “Stay”. He couples Rihanna’s smooth vocals with an easy piano driven build that crescendoes into a break of a prominent, rolling low end and a pitched synth melody with subtle piano for layering. With possibly his best remix this year, Moiez is showing that his best work still lies ahead of him.

With Cazzette hosting a remix contest for their single “Weapon”, Moiez has tossed his hat into the ring with a more tranced out version of the track, utilizing atmospheric synths, slow piano and excellent sampling of the vocals, reminiscent of his earlier works like “Kismet”. Wasting no time of this remix, Moiez flips the more melodic, experimental Eric Prydz influenced original for his own gritty electro house take on “Three Million”, a style we have not heard much of from the Canadian producer.

After giving out a bevy of free originals and remixes, Moiez makes his Beatport debut on Subtone records, taking Markus Cole & Amarolas’ track with the rising vocal talent Brenton Mattheus “Set Me Free” and gives it the shot of energy it needed. With a high pitched arp laying in the background, Moiez adds a soaring melody of uplifting synths accompanied by the vocals of Brenton Mattheus. Moiez looks to build off of his strong 2012 to catapault himself to an even better 2013 and with this remix he off a great start. Do not sleep on the Electric Joy Ride remix also included in the remix package.
