Electronic, House, Techno | George FitzGerald – Magnetic

It’s a commonly held belief among the underground that Berlin is the ultimate vanguard when it comes to electronic music. “The shit coming out of Germany these days is way more innovative and experimental and compelling than anything in the US, man! Have you even been to Berghain?”

But when you spend 2013 listening to Disclosure, and then you’re suddenly confronted by a track like “Magnetic,” it becomes increasingly difficult to discount the UK as one of the biggest breeding grounds for #FutureGarageSpacetronica talent. With his latest, George FitzGerald (recently named one of the top 50 DJs in the world by none less than Resident Advisor) delivers a deliciously spacey listening experience that seems tailor made for late nights and early mornings alike. Dark, deep synths drive the melody, while eerie vocals and a pounding bassline add another heady layer to the vibe. Stream below and head to Beatport for the DL.

And if you’re in the US (you east coast dogs), be sure to catch this rising star’s upcoming live dates; he’ll be at the legendary Output in Brooklyn tomorrow and the equally legendary U Street Music Hall in DC on Friday. Get it while it’s hot — he’s swinging back to Switzerland and the UK after these two brief but epic US stops. More details can be found here.

Albums, Electronic, Techno | Alesia – Andrea EP

OWSQALS-1024x576

Our favorite genre-hating French duo dropped their debut EP yesterday via Skrillex’s OWSLA, and genres be damned, this is not one to miss. Chock full of chilling industrial vibes that don’t skimp on the punches or energy level, Andrea is a fast paced and relentless ride that may lead you wonder what, exactly, is going on in Alesia’s head. Some of the tracks will be familiar to those of you who have been following the duo/team OWSLA — the clanging, eerily-pitched “Otho” was released as a single earlier this year and the techy, titular “Andrea” has been making the live set rounds. The electro-tinged “Jezabel” is a dark, hard-hitting banger best suited for the kind of deranged dance floors typically found in basement clubs and warehouses, while “Industriae” slows it down, packing a wallop with some truly guttural, metallic synths that would make even Gesaffelstein salivate. Stream it below in full and head to Beatport for the download if you’re dark and twisty like we are.

Electronic, Techno, Trap | Brodinski feat. Theophilus London – Gimme Back The Night (Ateph Elidja Remix)

Ateph Elidja is the newest member of the Bromance Records family, so it seems appropriate that one of his first official releases is a remix of label head Brodinski’s “Gimme Back The Night.” The original was dark and brooding to begin with, but this spacey and supremely industrial treatment takes it to another level. The Parisians are definitely not slacking in the creepy department these days, but I’m totally digging the vibes.

DO SOMETHING

Bass, Hip-Hop, Techno | Brodinski & Beat King – 5 Years

“These mollies are gonna kill you in five years. But it ain’t five years right now, so mix this shit with codeine, and jump.”

This patently absurd and not totally surprising lyric is what happens when you, ahem, mix a Parisian tech house don (and noted leather shorts enthusiast) with a looming presence on the Texas club scene. Brodinski’s borderline anthropologic fascination with Southern rap culture is no secret, and in “5 Years” we see it out in full force. The formula here is simple: Beat King lays the perversely catchy verse, Brodinski delivers a menacing wallop of sub bass, and the rest, as they say, is dance floor history. Free download so scoop it up.

Deep House, Techno | Tittsworth vs. Drake – African Drake (Tittsworth Hold On We’re Going Home Bootleg)

The homie Tittsworth dropping some fierce, deep goodness for those of you who enjoy getting serious and maybe a little bit weird. The only recognizably Drake element in this techy rework is the vocal hook, which ebbs and flows in spacey fashion and generally takes a backseat to everything else going on. Dark, minimal, but unrelenting, this freebie is not one to miss if you fancy yourself to be of the underground persuasion.

Bass, Techno | moodblanc – Vous

vous moodblanc

Tonight, Fresh New Tracks is providing you with something a little different than our usual musical offerings in an attempt to set your week off on the right foot. moodblanc is a Swedish, nu-disco duo with a sum-total of two songs in their SoundCloud catalog. Despite their non-expansive body of work, the two released songs are a treat for any pair of ears.

Be enchanted all the way to a terrace on the Hôtel de Paris, as “Vous” takes you on a continued journey through music…Each song that the group has released is a chapter in what appears to be a trilogy of work. “Vous” leaves the speaker/lover within the song in a vulnerable position, admitting that “it’s hard, impossible even, to be happy alone.”

Hopefully, the wait for Chapter Three won’t be too long, but in the meantime enjoy the soothing Daft-Punk-esk vocals and entrancing bassline.

House, Techno | BLAZ – Idiot // A-Spec

Blaz

Some techy madness for those of you like to go van deeper. Blaz is a producer out of Austin (#ATX baby) who likes to keep it dark, minimal, and borderline analog. “Idiot” is robotic future music of the highest order and “A-Spec” is the kind of track that, if played loudly and on repeat in the dark, will quickly cause you to lose much of your ability to keep track of time. Check them out below — free DLs; get weird on this rainy Thursday.
