I’ve gotta say, after removing the heavy production and complementing Cal’s pure vocals with Rez’s string work, the track has a whole new vibe. King Deco is going to be a star. This Duke grad and pop newcomer has a penchant for invoking Cleopatra, and one of the most captivating, mellifluous voices you’ll hear from anyone without a major label deal (or maybe even with). Given the constant routine and monotony that pervades pop music, it’s enlivening to hear and see an artist whose sound and aesthetic seems much more reflective of their authentic selves and sensibilities, rather than what is most marketable. “One”, the first single from her upcoming EP, was produced by Felix Snow, and features Deco’s rich, resonant vocals and writing over a seductive beat laden with ambient synths. Tigris is due out this month, and will also include the writing and production of Kinetics & One Love, Ryland Blackinton (of Cobra Starship), and ASTR’s Adam Pallin.

Them Academy boys are it again with their latest release “Closer To Me,” a catchy little ditty with sunny vibes, and a refreshing sound compared to everything else that’s out there. For a 2 minute and 30 second song it’s a true tease from what we can expect from these 2, and another reason for you to download it and play it on repeat. Other then the music, I have to applaud the guys for their songwriting, pay attention to their lyrics, these guys can write! If you want to know what California and Brooklyn sound like when they make music together, Academy is it. This is a must listen and a must download.

Necco Sweethearts may be the most disappointing candy of all time. Terrible texture, flavor that makes you question what combination of poison you’re eating, and a feeling like these candies were mass produced in 1938.
