I’ve been really impressed by the way CJ Holland has kept this cover series fresh and compelling. This week he covers another song on the rise, Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up And Dance”—a record truly emblematic of pop radio today with its dense, up-tempo, formulaic production and heavily-processed sound. CJ, joined by frequent collaborator One Love, has given it new life before listeners even knew it was necessary. CJ’s vocal here is as smooth as it has been anywhere, and paired alongside the vocals of Nick Petricca it’s even more clear that CJ has a great texture to his voice and overall style.
One Love again provides the perfect supplement, never commanding the attention, but always helping the vocalist thrive. He’s a master of different styles, and has been able to create interpolations of big beats that are equally catchy, but have a new flair about them. His riff on the original here has a subtle melodicism to it fueled by synth pads, but it never sounds over-produced or solely slated for club speakers. He’s stripped away just enough layers to find a vibe for the song that is equally fitting, if not even more so.

Don’t sleep on this trio Little Giants, their debut original “Lately” is bound to hit radio, it’s just that good! This is deep house gone pop, or whatever is, it’s been on repeat for the past 30 minutes on my laptop, and it’ll probably be stuck in my head for the rest of the day, hands down this is my favorite find for today, it’s a must listen, I promise you be won’t be disappointed!

Miss Chelsea Lankes just released my favorite song of hers, an epic ballad style record that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I pressed play on this record with no expectations, and the music alone did it for me, this is the kind of music that I love, simple, orchestral, quality song writing, and power, what more could you ask for? Produced by Wondershow, and featured in the short film Mr. Happy starring Chance the Rapper and directed by Colin Tilley, this is a must listen!

Fans of Aer, Cris Cab, or Academy take notice, William Bolton is up next and is easily becoming one of my favorite artists. The Detroit native is bringing back old school Mo-Town and mixing in some Pop, Hip Hop and Summer vibes for a scintillating sound that has you playing it time and time again. On My Mind is going to be on his forthcoming project, ‘Love Supreme‘ set to drop this summer which should be one of the top projects set to drop in 2015.

This is what it’s all about. There is nothing we love more than when a classic hip hop track gets the fresh make over it’s needed. This is one of those you’ll have stuck on repeat. I don’t recall the last time I heard a Fat Joe remix, but this one by Taylor Wise was well worth the wait. Giving it a nice pop twist with tropical vibes, Taylor Wise perfectly reworks the beat while working with Fat Joe’s rap verses, and brings in a super smooth chorus complemented by Ashanti’s lovely vocals. This one is a free download, so be sure to grab it now!

As Winter turns to Spring in New England, Boston native TJ Hickey delivers some summer-esque acoustics vibes with Good Girl. The Sean Devine produced track is extremely smooth and a much slower change of pace relative to TJ’s previous work. Good Girl is the last of four releases from TJ as he continues to prepare for the release of his album Undeniable coming this summer. Stay connected with TJ on Twitter and Facebook!
House, Pop | Caroline Koch Goes “Timeless” With Remixes By Tchami, Wankelmut & More!

Caroline Koch’s “Timeless” was first presented to us with a remix by Tchami, but her debut single proves that it can hold up on it’s own without any big name DJs affiliated to it. If you ask me, I personally prefer the original to the remix. Out now, along with remixes by Wankelmut, Theodor, Ganzfeld Effect, and more, this is a must listen and support by copping this on iTunes!
