Albums, Hip-Hop, Pop | Timeflies Just Brought Grubeats Out of Retirement.
Posted by Grubeats on March 29, 2018
Our good friend’s Timeflies’ new EP, ‘To Dream’, hit digital outlets last Friday, chalk full of all the feels. Like I said, they took me on a journey. Fast forward to the closing track, “Be Easy”, which is backed by a elementary chorus (which is catchy as hell), pumped with that nostalgia I so desperately need. Those who have been following Timeflies’ from the jump know their story. They came up in an era where the blog game was booming. The Stupay brother’s were the blog game Jordan Belfort and Donnie Azoff – fortunately they did it clean and never ended up under seize by the SEC and FBI. It was a different ballgame back then. Blogging was the meat and cheese sandwiched between Limewire and Spotify. The good ol’ days. Cal and Res capitalized on their unique opportunity and are still here killing it 8+ years later, and for that, I salute them. Head on over to Timefliesmusic.com, cop/stream their new album and catch them on tour now! …and shout out for the HOF FNT line in verse 2.
[Verse 2]
I remember taking laps through the quad
Natty in the back of the Jeep with the squad
All the girls laying on our lawn while we’re playing our song
Looking at us like ‘oh my God’
Thinking man if we could just do that
If we could we get a song up on fresh new tracks
If Waldo doesn’t call the cops
If 101 had blocks
If hotongue didn’t get so packed
But Jerry and our peep we were hungry
And ever since they heard me free people love me
64 buzz deep on them rizzer beats
In the back seat of the town and country
No time for stress, I’m blessed, I confess
I’m pressed tryna turn all their no’s into yes
I’m obsessed with being the best
Ain’t no time for rest
I’ma turn lights checkmate into cash cheques
Signing off until 2023, Grubeats.
Electronic, Pop, RnB | Spazz Cardigan Is Nashville’s New Act To Keep Your Eyes On
Posted by VMan on March 9, 2018
“Episode” by Spazz Cardigan sounds like if Beck and MGMT had a kid and then that child combined forces with the love child of Empire of the Sun and early Maroon 5. Kind of an odd combination and comparison of sounds but seriously, stream the flashy and fun new tune and give it your own feedback in the comments section. I am impressed and bewildered by this one and plan to re-listen to it a bunch of times. Listen to “Episode” by Spazz Cardigan above now and keep the rising artist on your radar!
Pop | Adée Swedish Songstress Shines in Heartbreak Single, “Wasted On You”
Posted by Juicebox on February 12, 2018
Hailing from the Baltic city of Kalmar, Sweden, singer/songwriter, Adée, has been developing a strengthening catalog of soul-injected pop gems. After a trip to New York to write at the end of last year, the Swedish standout emerges with the first single to come from her US visit called “Wasted On You,” and is said to be delivering an EP later this year. For “Wasted On You,” Adée steers a little more down the middle than her more urban-leaning past, however, she excels allow her soulful vocals to drive the track while the production under her still has a grandiose effect. Check out “Wasted On You” above and watch out for more from Adée later this year.
Indie, Pop | Kap Slap & Shaylen Release “Hangover Love” Just in Time For Valentines Day
Posted by Juicebox on February 9, 2018
Love is in the air as Kap Slap is back just in time for Valentines day with his latest single, “Hangover Love” featuring Shaylen. Following a stream of steady releases in 2017 which included “Fucking Amazing (feat. Cal)” [from Timeflies] and Apple Music’s A-List Dance, “If We Were Alone“, the LA-based DJ/producer decided to team up with the delightful Shaylen to illustrate the age-old adage, “Love is best found at the bottom of a bloody Merry”. Bristled bass plucks, playful percussion and Shaylen’s sultry vocals help plunge the listener into the most enjoyable morning after they’re sure to have in quite some time. Be on the lookout for their forthcoming Lyric Video slated to release on Proximity later this month. Check this one on Apple Music and Spotify starting 2/9.
