Indie | Hummingbird Tapes Drop Fresh 2-Track ‘Fever’

Posted by on March 5, 2019

Buzzing indie music collective Hummingbird Tapes have recently unleashed their latest offering, the double single project, “Fever”.  The Boston based group made up of former Berklee College of Music students have turned their love of jam sessions and writing sessions into a project to share with the masses.

Between the ever changing rotation of musicians, there is a clear technicality beneath everything they do.  Blending genres into jam-worthy tunes that are sure to cross boundaries, Hummingbird Tapes incorporate lush acoustic textures with a bit of electronic twinge to create intriguing, groovy tunes from start to finish.

Their new release brings a bit of Funk and some retro inspired textures into the new age, helping the new group to appeal to a wide range of music lovers.  Smooth vocals, interesting production and some quality musicianship all come together to create a stand out release and a beautiful addition to their growing catalog.

Check them out.

Indie | Almost Awake Get Emotional On New Cloudwalker Acoustic

Posted by on March 1, 2019

Las Vegas trio Almost Awake has released an acoustic version of Cloudwalker, the song which put them on the map. It’s original version has amassed 90k+ plays on Spotify, very impressive for a self proclaimed group of teenagers. The new interpretation breaks boundaries and invites the listener to a more personal and raw interpretation of such a passionate song.

The group, consisting of lead singer ‘Drowsy’, bassist Tommy Cochran and guitarist Kalani Jones, have released over fifteen songs in their career since first starting in 2014 when Drowsy and Kalani began the band as teenagers. Since then, they have already shared the stage with State Champs, Waterparks, Mayday Parade among others and have played in festivals such as Vans Warped Tour and Jersey Shore Fest and they are steadily becoming one of the must watch acts of the Vegas Pop Punk scene.

The stripped down acoustic version features a soft piano and a blazing guitar that reminisces of a Joe Satriani fanatic they go along perfectly with Drowsy’s, Haley Williams inspired singing.  The new track is incredibly personal while preaching its message of love not being reciprocated and making one feel invisible. With this release, the band is sure to keep on growing and becoming more successful, hopefully headlining more shows and gaining the notoriety they so much deserve.

Hip-Hop, Indie | Abhi The Nomad Drops New Knock ‘FEUD’

Posted by on November 30, 2018

Austin based MC/producer Abhi The Nomad is back once again with his final single of the year, “FEUD”.  Following up on a string of singles that saw the multi-talented artist bringing things back to basics for the sake of, “barring out”, the new single is yet another knock that brings an undeniable braggadocios vibe.

Teaming up with frequent collaborator Sherm,  the two artists take turns going in over a funky, gritty production laid down by the nomad.  Interesting percussion, bendy basslines and ominous guitar riffs float beneath the two MC’s who kick some game and let the competition know that they were, “born ready”.

As fun as it is devastating, the new tune shows that not only can you shut down the haters… you can have fun while doing it.

Ambient, Chill, Electronic, House, Indie, Pop | GIANNI MARINO AND BOY PROBLEMS PREMIERE EPIC COLLABORATION FEATURING ILY ON FNT

Posted by on September 7, 2018

Can You Hear Me

Gianni Marino has been making musical waves and registering in dance blog databases for the last few years at least. I was just reading today about a song that came out from him in 2016 and it’s no surprise that today the youthful artist is still dropping monsters when it comes to singles. “Can You Hear Me” is a significant collaboration between Gianni, brand new artist Boy Problems and the amazing Swedish pop singer ILY. We tend to learn more about these artists as they keep releasing music and it seems that they are finally making that transition towards mainstream pop.

It’s really exciting to get the opportunity to premiere this vocal anthem today. “Can You Hear Me” is an evidently 80s inspired pop r&b song with an lyrical top line pumping the whole time. Boasting a unique twist on their pop production style, these artists are sitting pretty in a world of generic sounding singles going live every Friday.

Berklee School of Music is a breeding ground for young talent. It’s hard to keep tabs on everyone who comes out of there, but the NorCal raised Jack O’Brien of is a name you’ll need to know. The recent graduate made his way back across the US, but ended up settling in Seattle and created his debut project, Boo Hoo. The release is made up of five singer/songwriter tracks that keep a simple, chill tone. The minimal style works because of Jack’s immense talents that we hope to see more of as time passes.
