It’s not everyday that you encounter an artist who in his bio classifies his own music as “one big wet fart,” and then delivers tracks that are up to the caliber (if not above the caliber) of some of the biggest names out there today; so, if you haven’t already heard of SAY MY NAME, now is probably a pretty good time to check him out.
Aside from being able to incorporate a sense of humor into his bass-filled tracks (see the Barney Theme remix [which actually isn’t bad, IMO]), this LA native also has the capacity to make everyone listening want to get on their feet and turn up like there’s no tomorrow. In his most recent track, a VIP of a previously released “FTS” remix, SAY MY NAME throws it up a level, infusing trap and hardstyle elements over three huge drops. Don’t miss the free download on this one, or I promise you’ll regret it.

Chill, Trap | Kasbo – The Wind-Up Bird

Kasbo is calling this genre “lovetrap” and I like that description of the track. “The Wind-Up Bird” is an original track by Kasbo, filled with bass and an upbeat drop drizzled in trap beats and sound effects. Yearning vocals are spliced in throughout the track and contrast surprisingly nicely with the upbeat piano and drops. Grab this one for free on Facebook, and look out for more from Kasbo!

It’s always a treat to hear Ozzie and Hucci come together on a track. Trap veterans Ozzie and Hucci create a dark, mesmerizing atmosphere in their remix of Johnny Rain’s “III”. Low synths and trapped out beats guide the vocals to a place of mystery and melancholy. Sophisticated, yet simple, the bass lines are to die for. Lucky for us, this remix is free to download!

Electronic, Trap | The Chain Gang of 1974 – Sleepwalking (Goon Bags Remix)

Goon Bags is a new artist on my Ipod, and a fantastic new addition. If you recognize this song from somewhere familiar, it’s because “Sleepwalking” by The Chain Gang of 1974 is the official trailer song of Grand Theft Auto 5 and can also be heard on the radio during the game. Goon Bags’ remix adds more of a trap aspect to the song that isn’t in the original. The remixed version features new drum work, bass lines, and some new synths to give it more bounce and a different energy. Overall, this track is worth a listen, and while you’re at it check out some of Goon Bags’ other tracks because they’ve got some real bangers out!
