Chill, Hip-Hop, Indie, Mainstream Remix, RnB, Videos | SoMo – Don’t Judge Me

Posted by on November 12, 2012

Often times I post music that is so breathtaking that I find myself at a loss for words. Being a blogger, that is slightly problematic. I’m having trouble forming words to describe how I feel about this song. I know that’ll probably get me comments like “GET OFF HIS DICK” from all of you internet trolls, but I’ll just go listen to this song to ease the pain. I swear, at one point, when he mixed one of my all time favorite songs “Crawl” into this mix, I got a bit emotional, reminiscing on how beautiful Ri’ and Chris’ love was, and all the past relationships I’ve messed up. Here I am, getting all emotional n shit. Don’t judge me.

Electro, Mainstream Remix | Wynter Gordon – Still Getting Younger (SmarterChild Remix) [FNT EXCLUSIVE]

If there is one guy that can bring GMoney out of retirement it has got to be SmarterChild. This innovative producer never fails to bring a unique take to every track he drops. His latest remix to electro-pop princess Wynter Gordon’s Still Getting Younger is an undeniable smash, that will have even the most reputation-concious bro completely losing it on the dance floor.

Electro, Mainstream Remix | Hoodie Allen — Small Town (SmarterChild Remix)

Posted by on September 27, 2012

I don’t generally dabble in anything outside of the hip-hop hemisphere, but SmarterChild hit me with this remix to one of the more ardent tracks from Hoodie Allen’s latest EP, “Small Town,” and he fantastically manipulates it into a electro jam. For Hoodie and EDM-heads alike, this is a sure crowd and party-pleaser, with a hearty dose of electronic riffs and yet still a strong residue of the original.

DO SOMETHING

Mainstream Remix | Dotcom Remixes

Posted by on September 16, 2012

Originally known for his mashups, Dotcom decided to step out of the box and venture into the world of originals. All I can say to that is we’re sure as hell glad he did. Below are two remixes he just released and their filthy to say the least. Dotcom takes Dada Life’s already heavy “Feed the Dada” and infuses it with enough heavy synths and deep base to give the track a complete makeover. Big ups to Dotcom, keep an eye on this kid.

Electro, Mainstream Remix | Clinton Sparks – The Night Out (A-Trak & Clinton Sparks Remix)

Posted by on September 15, 2012

I would like to apologize to all of you. Clinton Sparks released a new song and I wasn’t able to get it to you for your Friday night raging festivities. I’m sure your other favorite music blog gets good music to you all day, but alas, here I am, at 6AM, wallowing in a pool of pity. BUT, atleast you’ll have Mr. Sparks’ newest banger to rage to during your college football pregaming. Clinton Sparks never disappoints, constantly releasing HUGE remixes for the pleasure of his friends and fans. If it has Clinton Sparks’ name on it, you know it’s bringing the heat. So merry raging to all, and to all a good day.

Electro, Mainstream Remix | Frank Ocean – Pyramids (Chi Duly Remix)

Posted by on September 4, 2012

One of my favorite remixers in the game, Chi Duly, hits us with his latest rework masterpiece. I’ve been on Chi’s bandwagon since I heard his versions of The Weeknd’s tunes. A good remixer is able to keep the structure of the original song, while still being able to add their own creative pillars to…supplement it. Channel Orange was one of my favorite albums of the year, and I know many people felt the same way. But I’m sure all those people will be behind me in thanking Chi for shortening this song to half it’s original length. This track will be featured on Mick Boogie and Stylecaster’s “Sounds From The Front Row Vol. 6,” so be on the lookout for that as well. Read Chi Duly’s thoughts below the SC player after you download this work of art.

“When I remix something I visualize a place the song needs to go. Naturally the place for this song would be a trendy night club filled with mummies and Egyptians in golden robes inside of a pyramid floating in the Red Sea. They would most likely be drinking wine, dancing and conversing about a general hatred for Brendan Fraiser. I mean I’d be defending him though. Sometimes people tend to forget about a cinematic achievement called Encino Man. Anyways pyramids are crazy.”

House, Mainstream Remix | The Cataracs – All You (Dstar & Benzi Remix)

Posted by on August 15, 2012

“All You” by The Cataracs is an odd track mostly because of the unnecessary addition of Waka Flocka Flame to it. It is clear that the strengths of the song lay in the choppy saxophone and 808s combined with the amazing voice of Becky Jean Williams on the hook. On Dstar and Benzi’s remix of the track, the two play to the strengths of the original with their straightforward club version of the track. The two highlight the amazing hook and cut down Waka’s part to just a few shouts over blazing synths and bass. Download the track for free below and become a fan of Dstar on Facebook.
