“Tank Girls” was a standout record for Apashe in 2015. That’s saying a lot for a guy who put out a VIP for his viral song “No Twerk” along with landing licensing deals with Adidas, HBO and more. Kannibalen Records commissioned some remixes for Apashe’s 2015 original, and released them today on the Tank Girls Remix EP. The first is by the Italian artist Razihel, who has been one of Monstercat’s strongest artists. His remix is a light-hearted trap take, whereas 8Er$ brings his bass heavy, hybrid trap style. With the third remix, Son Of Kick brings a dark, drum & bass tune that shows off his hometown of London’s influence on him. Lastly, Zeskullz put together a remix that resembles the style and sound of the original, but brings a more housey vibe. Leave it to Kannibalen to bring top quality remixes to their top quality originals.

Bass | Slushii Takes That Poppy’s “Lowlife” To The Future
Posted by Juicebox on April 28, 2016
We may not know who Slushii is, but we don’t really mind, especially if he’s putting out music as good as this! Slushii recently signed to the Canadian-based Monstercat imprint, and to celebrate, he’s just put out a remix of That Poppy’s “Lowlife” that we can’t stop bumping. The remix is Slushii at his finest, as he lays down wavy synths with a pulsing bassline that will have you grooving on the dance floor.
Bass | AWAL Shares About Adaptation, Music Production, Current Inspirations & More
Posted by VMan on April 28, 2016
If someone knows what new things are simmering in the bass-music game, it’s AWAL. The solo DJ brings a global perspective to his music, traveling back and forth from Korea and Canada, which can be heard through his adaptive approach to the area of dance music he dabbles in. His upcoming releases is what really gets me excited. Keep an eye out for those in the next coming weeks.
AWAL focuses on the heavier side of dance music, but your next releases will feature a bit of a genre change, what made you make this decision?
Alex: It wasn’t until recently that I’ve started to find my own sound in the bass scene. A blend of trap, some elements of hardstyle and always lots of energy. My upcoming releases really focus on the energy without always sticking to the same genres. There’s a huge driving electro/bass house track forthcoming on Chuckie’s Dirty Dutch Digital. A Hip-hop/Trap/Hardstyle heater featuring M.I.M.E. A Trap/DnB remix I’ve done for a friend. As well as a huge and wild 155bpm original track. I’m really trying my hand at taking my high energy style to different genres. I play so many different styles in my sets, that I’m trying to explore that in my music too.
Bass | Listen To The Western & Eastern Culture Collide With Koinu’s “Gainax Bounce”
Posted by VMan on April 21, 2016
Kpop and Japanese culture are coming together stronger than ever – Koinu’s sound is at an abstract intersection where popular styles of western electronic music and the recent global explosion of the tradionally eastern music trends collide.
Genres like Kawaii and artists like Porter Robinson have showcased snapshots of Western culture, in particular North America, slowing getting turned on to eastern music trends. Over time, it’s only natural that something like Koinu would be born our of these colliding cultures. I suppose we got lucky Varien filled in the gap, given his experience and deeper themes his artistry typically displays.
Koinu’s latest “Gainax Bounce” is an interesting ratio of bass and eastern vibes – a unique notch in the belt of releases the solo artist has pushed in the last few weeks.
If you like stand-out meaning and effort behind a sound, Koinu is your guy.
