Alternative, Pop | Mitch Jones Drops Long-Awaited Debut EP ‘If I Could Go Back’

Posted by on July 23, 2021

Having gained notable traction in the Twitch community over the years, Mitch Jones is transitioning from streams to songwriting with the forthcoming release of his debut EP, If I Could Go Back. Whether it was World of Warcraft, Pokemon Go, or Just Chatting content, Mitch dominated Twitch with natural decorum and has since accumulated over half a million dedicated followers on the platform. Now, the gamer-turned-artist unveils six heartfelt tracks on If I Could Go Back, many of which allude to the passing of his best friend Byron “Reckful” Bernstein.

In April, Mitch took to YouTube to explain why he’s retiring from the streaming empire he’d built over a decade. Titled ‘Treading new waters,’ Mitch speaks on the devastating impact Reckful’s death continues to have on him a year after the fact, and why he feels it is time to explore other avenues. “Truly I had some magical moments as a streamer, and those days are over,” Mitch says. “Every day that I continue just feels like me trying to relive something that I’ve already reached the peak of.”

“I’ve been a full-time streamer for the past 10 years. I became a person that everyone who watched me wanted to see, and it slowly broke down my mental health over time. I lost some of the best people in my life, to death, or just having them leave me for all of my poor choices. In early 2021, Kala and I connected and we started making music together and it has helped me more than any therapy could. I want to write songs to save people who are struggling, just like I’ve been. Thank you to all of the real ones from Twitch who have supported me in this journey into music. I hope the music can help at least one other person.” – Mitch Jones

Alternative, Pop | Louie Blue – Spaceman

Posted by on July 14, 2021

Louie Blue is a rising artist who is starting to turn some heads with his funky infused Pop sound. His newest drop to date, “Spaceman” is an ambient, borderline 80’s influence instrumental that lets his lush topline easily float atop the smooth vibes. This is the first time hearing this artists music but I now consider myself a fan and look forward to hearing more from him soon enough (hopefully). There is a clear jazz influence which has inspired Louie’s playful pop sound. His songs always include a bassline groove which sets the mood for the track, and “Spaceman” sets the same precedent, creating the perfect platform for Louie to showcase his melodic flow and unique vocal ability. Alternative, Indie | Jeremy Loops drops new single “Postcards”

Posted by on July 2, 2021

Following a series of popular releases in 2020, amassing 15 million streams and over 5.5million hits on YouTube, South-African singer, songwriter, and producer Jeremy Loops is back with a summery new single and music video for his track “Postcards”, out on Decca Records. “Postcards” showcases Jeremy’s distinctive vocals, flowing melodies, and sunshine-soaked hooks. This is a summer soaked track about relationships, so its feel-good but also real at the same time. Watch the visual above now and read a quote from Jeremy on the release below!

“Postcards is a song about the ups and downs of relationships, people feel like they are alone when they suffer difficulties in relationships, it’s more common than people admit. This isn’t a sad song, it’s a song about acceptance and accepting that difficulties are often part of the journey to finding that solid connection. It’s a very upside-down world we’re living in right now. It’s hard to see people agreeing on anything, but this is one thing I feel like everyone can agree on. Sometimes we just can’t live with or without each other.”

Alternative, R&B | London-based singer SAI drops new single “SHAME”

Posted by on June 28, 2021

London-based singer, songwriter & visual artist SAI (pronounced ‘say’, a backronym for ‘Sing About It’) treats us to the final piece of art from her EP ‘RE’: a song entitled ‘Shame’. A straight-up R&B classic, this break-up song sees SAI handling the blowout like a queen. Her slick lyrics inject a major dose of female kick-ass attitude, with just enough vulnerability for fans to relate to the emotions. Far from bitter, she sings:” Shame on you boy, it’s a shame for you boy” – let’s just say, we wouldn’t wanna be that guy! The track is blessed with SAI’s consistently dreamy vocals, showcasing her sultry lower tones in the verses, with some very Mariah-esque backing vocals in the pre-chorus, before soaring up to a stunning falsetto in the sing-along chorus. Smooth soulful R&B chords played by a light-hearted synth set the mood of the track from the start, followed by the hard-hitting 808’s and drums punching through the chorus. This mid-tempo break-up anthem draws influence from renowned producers like “The Underdogs” with a vibe so fresh, yet so reminiscent of the ‘Back in The Day” R&B we love and miss so much.
