Nothing excites me quite as much as young people with a passion for music.
Enter: BEND, the duo of college students who make indescribable Pop/Indie/Alternative sounds from their respective dorm rooms. Both originally from Los Angeles, vocalist, Sean, relocated to New York while producer, Garrett, stayed close to home at the University of Southern California.
Limited by their time apart during the school year, BEND spends countless hours during the Summer writing, producing, and recording. As they prepare to release their next project, Sean and Garrett unleash, “Four”. The song is co-produced by blackbear and shows the immense all-around talent of the band.
It had been nearly a year since last putting out a song. The artistic growth is palpable, and one can only imagine what is still in the vault, awaiting the public’s ears.

Warming fans up for their House Party tour with 2013 XXL Freshman Dizzy Wright, Carter & David remix their last hit “Whatever We Want” with a new verse along with a guest cameo from Dizzy himself. In my mind, Dizzy is one of the most promising MC’s still grinding on the come up – a focused flow with a message, so naturally he delivers a killer verse. Carter though, DAMN he went in on this.

The debut EP from Brooklyn-based Painted Zeros is, for lack of a better word, awesome. The five tracks comprising SVALBARD are an assertive and creatively varied journey through the psyche of singer/songwriter/guitar player/producer/jack of all trades Katie Lau. No fillers here, unless you count 30 seconds of tight experimental wandering halfway through — the EP ranges from deceptively fragile and New Order-tinged (“This American Life”) to ecstatic and garage rock-y (“Jaime”) to moody-yet-hopeful-yet-delicate-yet-steely (“Too Drunk”).
