Albums | Bobby Basil Shares New Single “I’ll Die First”
Posted by VMan on April 3, 2024
Dublin-born hip-hop sensation Bobby Basil (AKA Isaac Nelson) has returned to the spotlight with his latest single, “I’ll Die First”, a poignant and introspective piece that showcases the artist’s deep emotional journey and spiritual awakening.
Since bursting onto the music scene in 2014, Bobby Basil has captivated audiences with his unique blend of Caribbean influences and raw, honest lyricism. Inspired by his own experiences and fuelled by a newfound commitment to sobriety and faith, Bobby has solidified his place as one of hip-hop’s most compelling voices.
“I’ll Die First” serves as the title track for Bobby’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, slated for release later this year. The single, characterised by its dusty nostalgic alternative hip-hop vibe, features Bobby’s charismatic delivery and introspective lyrics, inviting listeners into his world of longing and self-discovery.
Bobby describes “I’ll Die First” as “a suicide letter to God”, a cathartic purge of the old self to make way for a new beginning in the name of Jesus Christ. The track’s catchy guitar sample underscores the emotional depth and sincerity of Bobby’s message, setting the stage for a soul-stirring musical experience. Accompanying the single is an equally captivating music video (co-directed by Megan Robinson alongside Bobby Basil), further enhancing the immersive storytelling of “I’ll Die First.”
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Bobby shares, “I created this track in my mate’s studio drunk off whiskey after six months of being sober and a dedicated Christian.” This raw authenticity permeates throughout the song, offering listeners a genuine glimpse into Bobby’s journey of self-discovery and redemption.

“Decimate,” Bossfight’s latest banger released under the Monstercat label, is a sonic blast that captures everything the artist stands for. This song exemplifies Bossfight’s ability to highlight the theme ‘expect the unexpected,’ blending a range of sounds from dubstep to trance, all while injecting his signature intensity and flair.
Erik Bjärngard, known as Bossfight, actually had his very first release on Monstercat back in 2017. His approach is a breath of fresh air in a genre that thrives on innovation, mixing the aggression of dubstep and metal with the sophistication of orchestral music, and balancing the energy of drum and bass with the serenity of trance – for example.
Bossfight’s influence extends beyond the music itself, from Editorial Spotify support and tens of millions of streams alongside syncs to major video game platforms like Fortnite – he’s been around the block when it comes to both unique and successful experiences tied to his music. Inspiration and excitement seem to radiate from this young artist – expect more musical goodies on this level coming forth in good time.
Albums | MarMar drops new single, “Heart”
Posted by VMan on April 1, 2024
Check out a taste off Australian artist MarMar’s forthcoming EP, which is coming soon, above now! Read a quote from him on the release below.
“I wrote the instrumental for Heart originally as a much more piano centred track. It was a pretty emotional concept, and I was really leaning into the expression of the chords and melody. When I asked John (aka Easy Morning) to work on vocals with me, we created a story of lost love, and being so happy to see someone again that you never fully got to be honest with. Heart is a story about meeting up with someone from your past and finally being able to pour out your emotion to them but being hesitant about whether that’s the right thing to do or not.” ~ MarMar

AVANCE, a name that has become synonymous with the innovative edge of electronic music, particularly within the dubstep genre, has marked his territory with a series of chart-topping releases. His journey, punctuated by the acclaimed “Welcome To My Nightmare” and “Graves Full” EPs, showcases a unique blend of electronic prowess and a flair for the dramatic, weaving elements of horror into the tapestry of sound.
This distinctive approach has not only garnered him spots on electronic music charts but also earned the respect of industry giants like Skrillex, Alison Wonderland, Svdden Death, and DJ Diesel. Beyond music, AVANCE’s influence extends into horror film scoring and gaming soundtracks, where his capacity to meld atmospheric tension with electronic has been widely lauded.
“CREATION OF DISGUST,” AVANCE teams up with Qoiet, a metal/rocktronic artist known for his intense vocal delivery, to explore deeper into the realm of the riddim genre. This single transcends mere sound, delving into a narrative that is as personal as it is universal: a confrontation with a demon named Odious, symbolic of the artist’s innermost fears.
The collaboration results in a haunting mix of distorted drums, sinister melodies, and an ambiance that invites listeners into a world of revelation and darkness. “CREATION OF DISGUST” is not just a musical release; it is an introspective journey and shows that AVANCE continues to break boundaries within the electronic music scene. Johnny Burgos and Jeremy Page are stirring things up, this time with their latest creation, “Get Back.” This experience is a visual journey through the ebbs and flows of a relationship on the brink. Featured on their upcoming album “All I Ever Wonder,” set for a June 7th release via LRK Records, “Get Back” dives into the heart of a love story that’s lost its spark, offering a glimmer of hope for rekindling what was once there. Directed by Burgos alongside Malik Chatman and starring Feather Monet, the music video takes us to the heart of Brooklyn’s roller skating scene at BKLYN Skates, beautifully syncing with the song’s introspective vibe to paint a picture of romance in its many shades.
What makes “Get Back” really stand out is its ability to blend the lively world of Brooklyn’s roller skating culture with the poignant narrative of the song, delivering a music video that’s as thought-provoking as it is visually engaging. This harmony of sights and sounds not only adds depth to the storytelling but also amps up the excitement for the album.
Burgos, Brooklyn-born and bred, brings a rich musical heritage into his work, influenced by the likes of his uncle, the notable percussionist Andre Martinez, and music legends such as Michael Jackson and OutKast. His journey from being mesmerized by salsa and soul to crafting his own hip-hop music has culminated in a sound that’s a vibrant mix of R&B, hip-hop, funk, pop, salsa, and reggae. “Get Back” hints at the depth and diversity of Burgos’ upcoming album, promising a blend of heartfelt lyrics and stand-out sounds.
