Alternative, Chill | Radical Something Brings Us “Down South”
Posted by admin on June 30, 2015
The Radical Something guys have been quiet for a little while now, but just last week we heard it was for good reason. The three-piece California band was busy writing, recording, and strategizing for their Summer of Rad campaign!
The first song to reach our ears this summer is “Down South” and embodies the laid back summer tunes we have come to expect from the duo. There is plenty more in store, so be sure to tune in again and enjoy these lazy summer months.

Aer has returned, this time with a song “One Of A Kind” to match their album of the same name. They boast their individuality atop production that has come to be known of them. It fits perfectly in to any slot on your summer playlist.
Catch Aer out on tour this summer.
Pop | Timeflies take it all the way pop with their newest release “Worse Things Than Love”
Posted by admin on June 25, 2015
Timeflies has always towed the line of pop and rap carefully. Much of their early following can be attributed to rap renditions of famous pop songs in their “Timeflies Tuesday” series. However, with “Worse Things Than Love” they go all the way pop and don’t look back.
“Worse Things Than Love” comes right as the summer begins to heat up, and the hook is so catchy you’ll likely have it in your head until the summer cools down. To top it all off Natalie La Rose lays down a bridge that gives the song enough flare to really put it over the top.
While there may be a few begrudging fans out there, Timeflies took a step in the right direction with this one and because of that will hopefully get many more ears and eyes on them in the coming months.
Ambient, Chill, Electro | ØRKA Releases “Phantom”
Posted by admin on May 28, 2015
New artists and producers cycle in and out of SoundCloud just about as often as the tides change. For anything to stick it has to be better than “good,” it has to be better than “great.” There must be a trait of the artistry, or image that hook people because of it’s originality.
Since ØRKA is still simply a name with no face, it is his enchanting voice and mesmerizing production that have captured us thus far.
As the Weeknd moves further and further in to Max Martin’s pop world, perhaps it is time for a new powerful artist to fill the void of emotional warbling. The distorted vocals paired with soft guitar loops and crashing drums make an exciting listen all the way through.
Only two songs grace his SoundCloud right now, but ORKA is sure to be back soon with a follow-up, hopefully, as moving as “Phantom.”
Alternative, Chill, Hip-Hop | Aer – I Can’t Help It
Posted by admin on May 26, 2015
It seems that the Boston duo Aer thrives in these hot summer months. For their most recent release “I Can’t Help It” the guys head out to Hawaii and dance around the beach, essentially an instructional video on which setting to best enjoy the song in.
The video was shot and directed by longtime Aer collaborator, mattMIGGZ. Be on the look out for more acoustic-alternative-hip-hop, from Aer in these next few months.
Hip-Hop, Rap | Matt McGhee – Crystal (ft. moneyfourdrugs)
Posted by admin on May 18, 2015
Local DC resident Matt McGhee has released a steady output of music over the past couple of months, and today I have to share with you “Crystal”. While it won’t be a part of Matt’s upcoming project, “Crystal” is a soft-spoken, simple, but authentic song that tells the story of Matt’s struggle with a mystery girl.
If this is just a loosie to tide people over, I can’t wait to see what is coming off the project.
Hip-Hop, Rap | Drew Mantia – Kill Yo Ass (ft. Hologram Kizzie)
Posted by admin on May 12, 2015
As the Chicago music scene continues to bubble and expand we get a new offering from Drew Mantia, assisted by the serenading of Hologram Kizzie. Originally from St. Louis, Drew went to school to study music and has since been building his own brand and performing alongside some exciting acts in St. Louis’ finest venues.
“Kill Yo Ass” sounds like it comes from a very real place, which can be attributed to the fact that it is self-produced.
The raspy voice atop jazzy, drum-heavy instrumental makes for an exciting and relaxing combination all in one. Listen to the introspective song, and get to know Drew Mantia as it won’t be the last time you hear the name.
