Events | Bounce Boat Prepares For Inaugural Voyage in 2014 With The Chainsmokers
Posted by Middy on March 7, 2014
Though the boat party headlines are taken up by Holy Ship, Groove Cruise and now Mad Decent, in NYC, we have Bounce Boat, that may not be as long a voyage, but for a great night at sea, it goes above & beyond the call of duty. Bounce Boat will be hitting the high seas on its traditional luxury liner, Hornblower Infinity with an increased capacity of 1,200 people. The Hornblower Infinity is one of the most impressive boats on the Hudson: equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system, a fully sound-integrated LED light system, and spacious facilities on all three floors and the Skydeck.
On the 4th, the Campus DJ tour will be boarding the ship, as they attempt to find the best DJ on your college campus. They have brought along The Chainsmokers as the guest headliner to play alongside Sean Glass, Goshfather & Jinco and potentially you (if you are a DJ in college). Riding the #Selfie craze to a rather unexpected level stardom in the pop realm, The Chainsmokers are on the tip of everybody’s tongue, from Access Hollywood to Ryan Seacrest. Chipotle will be providing food aboard the ship, which begins boarding at 6:30, departs at 8pm from Pier 40 and returns at midnight. Grab your tickets here.
FYI | Dance Music’s Worrying Trend: The Try Hard
Posted by Middy on March 5, 2014
We all know one — or unfortunately have come to know one. Two years ago they were overheard about how amazing Alesso was at EDC Las Vegas. This year they won’t be seen leaving the techno tent, save to go grab a drink or look in disgust at the kids dressed in neon wandering the festival grounds. They will be there nice and early to let everyone around them know just how extensive their knowledge is about the openers. They were up on them well before you, no doubt about that, and aren’t too sure how they feel about seeing them on such a grand stage like Ultra, E-Zoo or EDC — because naturally the next step is David Guetta-esque selling out.
Albums, Exclusive, Featured, Progressive House | FNT Premiere: Sgt Slick – Everyday (Dave Winnel Vicious21 Remix) From Vicious 21
Posted by Middy on March 3, 2014
Vicious Recordings is turning 21 this year and celebrate this momentous occasion, they have compiled 21 classics and 21 new remixes of songs that represent the storied history of the label. In a genre that has only been around for about 35 years, it is all to often we see labels, clubs and other institutions fade into obscurity after a short run on top. To remain one of the great labels, riding the highs and lows of the industry and remaining a consistent force at discovering new talent and promoting great music throughout the years. Based in Australia, just a few of the guys the label has helped break include Avicii, Dirty South, Peking Duk, Angger Dimas and many more.
With the compilation coming out tomorrow on Beatport, we are proud to premiere the Dave Winnel remix of Sgt Slick “Everyday”. Those of you who are fans of Kaskade’s compilation albums (raises hand), will recognize the piano-heavy remix by Digital Lab from Dance.Love, but now hometown kid, Dave Winnel takes over the reigns for a remix fit for 2014. The stunning vocal is left intact as Dave Winnel adds a bouncy bass line underneath a bed of synths that are a mix of a throwback to when this tune was originally released and to the sounds of today. Stream the tune below before it comes out tomorrow. Check out the teaser for the compilation below and see the full tracklist after the jump.
Electronic | Porter Robinson – Sea Of Voices
Posted by Middy on March 2, 2014
We have been hearing about the album “Worlds” for quite some time now, and finally we have a peak at what it will sound like. Porter has repeated in interviews that it was not going to be like his other songs, but something more musical, a listening album. He released no music last year and still got even bigger in profile, a testament to the quality of each of his tunes. If his past work and “Sea Of Voices” is any indication, the album is going to be one of the best this year, without a doubt.

Albums, Trance | Markus Schulz – Scream 2 (Album Review)
Posted by Middy on February 27, 2014
Somehow, in between the marathon sets, constant travel and acting as a label head, Markus Schulz has found the time to release the follow up artist album, his fifth, to his 2012 effort, “Scream“. The DJ and the producer go hand and hand for Markus Schulz as what he makes has to be ready for a set that could last up to 12 hours, something he does more often than most. This album, like “Scream” delves into the more melodic side of his sound, but injects bigger and trancier melodies than the first edition. Stream the songs from album in a special episode of Global DJ Broadcast below, grab the CD, and watch the 25 minute behind the scenes documentary that goes into how the album was made, the stress of deadline day and details on the various collabs.
Trap | JayCeeOh & Terror Dactel – Hear You Calling
Posted by Middy on February 26, 2014
NYC trap producer / DJ JayCeeOh has teamed up with fellow NYC producer Terror Dactel for the second time in almost as many weeks for another big free download. They sample Aurora’s 2000 single “Here You Calling“, something quite commonly done in trap, and use the vocal to interject a little bit of vocal bliss over a breakneck speed instrumental. It’s trancey, which as a lover of trance, I can certainly get behind, giving the tune an added dimension beyond just fearsome 808s and relentless high-hats. Best of all, the track is free, so get it now.
