Progressive House | Galantis – You (Young Bombs Remix)
Posted by Mel on July 30, 2014
Progressive house music, but even more so the performance of the everyday dishwasher are two things that I am not easily impressed by. Galantis’ “You” was huge and none of the official remixes could better it. Get ready to be impressed by a new duo out of Vancouver by the name of Young Bombs who have come as close as anyone will to topping the original. They said they wanted to add a “hopeful, uplifting vibe” to contrast the dark tone of the original and they have succeeded in doing so. My one criticism is that it is not mixed/mastered as well as it could be, but for their first release, it is understandable. With their debut track as great as this, there is sure to be good things to come for this Canadian duo.

Electro, Progressive House | Sander Van Doorn, Martin Garrix, DVBBS – Gold Skies (Elephante Remix)
Posted by Mel on July 30, 2014
There are some songs that become remixed so much that people loathe seeing another one. “Gold Skies” is one of those, but Elephante’s take on it is among the best of them. His unique glitch infused with progressive house sound is always an entertaining listen. Pair that with the superb vocals from the original and you have a great track.

Electronic | No Limits – Purple Skies

No Limits are awesome. They have such a refreshing style and consistently put out quality stuff. Their latest is a dreamy piece of electronic music that becomes extremely catchy. Everything from the atmosphere, to the production, to the vocals are all top notch. These guys are going to be big soon.

Progressive House | Rachel Costanzo – Starlight (Marcus Santoro Remix)
Posted by Mel on July 29, 2014
Only a short while after his great remix of “One Way Home”, Marcus Santoro is back at it with another free track. Rachel Costanzo is a 16 year old artist local to Melbourne, the same place Santoro is from. He’s a fan of her, most likely thinks she’s cute, and didn’t acknowledge me when I jokingly asked for a shirtless pic from him, and so he was happy to remix her latest single. While it may not be his best track to date, it is still quality and another display of Santoro’s professional sounding productions.

Electro-House | Chris Avantgarde – Fuel
Posted by Mel on July 28, 2014
Chris Avantgarde inaugurates his newly formed label the proper way with an exceptionally strong first release. Produced by the founder himself, “Fuel” is a powerful, gritty, highly energetic track and probably his best to date. It is also one of the most well produced tracks I have heard in a while. Chris has a unique sound and his label is also unique, because all of their releases are free of charge. Never one to settle on generic, Chris Avantgarde and his new label are sure to be among those to watch going forward.

Alternative, Pop | Smallpools – Killer Whales
Posted by Mel on July 23, 2014
I’m big into pop, progressive house, and large women talking to me. Not even joking about that last one, cause I like talking to everyone. I am constantly stocked up on progressive house tracks, but I am not as deep into the pop realm as I’d like to be. I go in a little bit, then out for a brief moment, then back in, then pretty much repeat that for a while. John Cena knows. Smallpools is one of the few who can keep me in there – I’m a huge fan of them – so I was happy to see that they released a new song. “Killer Whales” is great and has the same upbeat and fast paced feel as all their previous stuff. While it may not be their best track, it is still quality and definitely worth a listen for all you indie-pop lovers out there.

Progressive House | Steve Angello – Wasted Love ft. Dougy from The Temper Trap
Posted by Mel on July 23, 2014
The first single off Steve Angello’s upcoming album is out and it is as awesome as one would expect. The superb vocals and radio ready production destine this song to commercial success, much like how “Don’t You Worry Child” was. It’s not a huge surprise for there to be a song or two from the album that is catered to the mainstream and this is one of them. Even so, it’s a great track and a smart way to reintroduce the world to Steve Angello, the solo artist.
