Hip-Hop | Paul Markham – Don’t Wait Up
Posted by LoffyG on June 6, 2012
It has been some time since Mr. Markham has released some all original material, until now. I received a handful of tracks that he’s been working on lately. Comparing them to his previous work these are on a different level. Not only has he strayed away from his typical remixes, but he’s also put in more work production-wise and lyrically. Stay tuned folks because my favorite of them all is still yet to be released.
Hip-Hop | Kinetics ft. Chris Webby – Game Over
Posted by LoffyG on June 5, 2012
Cornell wordsmith and Warner wunderkind, Kinetics, teams up with notable ninja Chris Webby for the second time time after their previous “Joker” collaboration off Webby’s There Goes The Neighborhood. In their new collaboration, Kinetics raps with calculated conviction while Chris Webby talks about video games, super mario, and other video game pursuits. No complaints here, this track is tough.
Hip-Hop | Mac Miller x Pharrell – Onaroll
Posted by LoffyG on June 5, 2012
“She get good grades she suck a d*** what more can you ask for?” -Mac Miller, folks.
While excitement has been considerabe for Mac’s upcoming “Pink Slime” mixtape, the first release “Onaroll” featuring Pharrell is nothing short of horrific. I’ll admit up front that I’m not sold on the kid. There’s just nothing about his regurgitated “weed and snapbacks” message that relatively impresses me, this new effort being no exception. Mac, I know what we can ask for: How about we get off the white lady, clean our act up, and switch up the I-need-more-nasal-spray regurgitated subject matter? Sound good?
Alternative, Videos | Radical Something Presents: The #SummerOfRad
Posted by LoffyG on June 5, 2012
Radical Something’s No Sweat Spring tour has now come to a close after traveling the U.S. and performing with many different artists along the way such as Slightly Stupid, SOJA, Asher Roth, Cris Cab and more. Luckily the train doesn’t stop there! This is going to be a radical summer because they will be releasing a new song every Monday for the next 12 weeks starting June 11th! Also during the No Sweat tour I had the opportunity to sit down with Radical Something for an interview. You can catch the release of that here this Saturday (6/9/12)!
Hip-Hop | CJ Trillo – Slow It Down (Prod. by Jim I.E.)
Posted by LoffyG on May 29, 2012
A little over a month ago W8 put me on to this guy, CJ Trillo. Previously known as Sucka Free CJ, Trillo began playing guitar and singing back in 2005, when he was only 15. At first he had no intentions of rapping because at heart he had a love for acoustic music. In December of 2010, Trillo released his first hip-hop project known as Ars Gratia Artis. Almost a year later he dropped Trill Life, a mixtape that I’ve had in constant rotation since I first heard it. His next project release is set for July 11th and should be nothing less than quality because through his music you can tell he’s been constantly progressing. This song is a little different then his previously releases so I added some of his older music below to give you a better taste of the variety. Do you think CJ’s flow is nice? Fire off in the comments below.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Mike Stud: Touring’s Boring
Posted by LoffyG on May 21, 2012
Jon Kilmer came along with Mike Stud on the last leg of the Toast To Tommy Tour with one mission; capture what tour life is like in a 5-minute video. The results were so boring EPIC. It features concert footage from the NYC and STL shows, the beautiful women who attended, after parties and much more chaos. If you listen at about the 3:07 mark you can hear a preview of Mike’s new song “Athlete” which drops with an official video next week. If you didn’t catch a show on this tour be sure to catch him next time he’s in a city near you.
Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Cam Meekins – :) :/ :( [Mixtape]
Posted by LoffyG on May 21, 2012
DOWNLOAD: Cam Meekins – :) :/ :( [Mixtape]
Cam Meekins’ free album :) :/ :( is finally here. After hearing multiple tracks off the project such as “Cut Me Off” & “#FuckYoBitch”, I knew Cam was onto something different compared to his past projects. I’ve listened to the entire mixtape and it indeed has a totally different sound. In Cam’s beginning he used to make songs where he’d sing hooks over beats that had a more pop sound such as tracks from the Dancing With The Stars mixtape. Cam is now proving his lyrical abilities and still singing as well, but with a more developed sound. Going in over relatively simple beats while keeping the baseline heavy. I recommend this to anyone looking for something new.
