Exclusive, Hip-Hop, Videos | Jetpack Jones – Be Alone (Video) [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by J_Salzer on June 3, 2012
Jetpack Jones releases the video for my favorite song off his successful mixtape, Afterburners. The video, directed by Hunter Lyon, is fun and easy going. Featuring a couple fellas with water guns, and the classic shot of Jetpack delivering his rhymes in the beautiful Bay area. Be Alone has an addicting beat, crafter by TheGeekSquad, and Jetpack’s verses paired with a Cliff Savage feature make this song one of the most played songs in my iTunes library. Make sure you quickly hit the “like” button below and help Jetpack Jones reach 1,000 likes.
Hip-Hop, Mashups | Can’t Hold The Wild (Mackelmore vs. Steppenwolf) – DJ 21azy
Posted by J_Salzer on June 2, 2012
I’m not usually a fan of mashups; I can’t stay on task for too long, and have trouble paying attention to all the different noises and having to pick up different songs and all that jazz. But DJ 21azy’s mashups have always been an enigma to me. For some reason, they keep me interested. He always seems to pick my favorite songs, and all of his mashups have the perfect mood. “Can’t Hold the Wild,” is no different, effortlessly combining Macklemore and Steppenwolf, DJ 21azy creates a mashup perfect for kicking off your summer.
Events, Hip-Hop | Chance The Rapper – Cordial Invite
Posted by J_Salzer on June 2, 2012
Chance Bennett is taking the blogosphere by storm. After the wildly successful release of his debut mixtape #10Day, Chance decides to give my favorite song off the mixtape the cover treatment. His vocals can grab any willing ear, while his lyrics keep them listening. The hook and chorus of “Prom Night” was already phenomenal, but was made even better with Chance crooning it soulfully. Chance The Rapper is on the cusp of becoming one of my favorite rappers in the game, and this only helps his cause. For all of our FNT fans in Chicago, grab tickets to Chance’s show coming up next friday HERE. I’ve gotten word that Chance will be doing something extra special so all of our Chicagoites better be there. Be on the lookout for more Chance coming soon. Also, like his fanpage below so you can say that you liked Chance before it was cool.
Chill, Exclusive, Hip-Hop | Beau Young Prince – King Midas (Video) [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by J_Salzer on May 30, 2012
Now that’s officially summer, there’s nothing to get me into my out of school mood like Beau Young Prince. Today, he drops his newest video, King Midas, exclusively with his favorite blog. *The story of King Midas has applied to Beau Young perfectly as of late. Everything he’s recently released has been on FNT, because it has all been gold. In this video, Beau reminds me of a mix of John Lennon, Snoop Dogg, and Wiz Khalifa. But his music could not be more unique. Beau runs around his city giving off a positive vibe, and even looks like a caveman at some points. The music is high energy and fun, and Beau’s lyrics are always solid and match the tone of the song perfectly. This video was shot, edited, and directed by Tim Driscoll of “TheCollective.” Also make sure you stop by his facebook and show him some love. Crank this song up, check out the video, kick back, crack a beer if you’re of legal age, and enjoy.
*For those of you who don’t know the story of King Midas, he was a king in ancient Greek times, who was cursed by the gods and everything he touched turned to gold. Now you might be thinking “that’s not a curse,” but eventually, EVERYTHING he touched turned to gold and he was all alone.
Freestyle, Hip-Hop | XV – Stone Cold (Recipe Freestyle)

Vizzy drops off this little freestyle to show his pride in his city. Coming from the state of Kansas as a rapper must be hard, so it’s nice to see Vizzy showing love to his roots. I love when artists take pride in their city, Macklemore, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, and many others have released songs dedicated to their cities. This is supposedly a freestyle, but in todays game, I feel like the word “freestyle” is thrown around pretty loosely. Sound off in the comments or get at me in the chat box(@J_Salzer) with your thoughts on the topic of freestyling and it’s place in music. No download yet, but be on the lookout for this posting being updates soon with the DL link. Downloads were enables as I was writing this post. That’s a good look.
Chill, Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Jetpack Jones – Afterburners (Mixtape)
Posted by J_Salzer on May 27, 2012
Jetpack Jones, one of SoCal’s fastest growing artists, drops of his latest work of art. I find myself always feeling the same about Jetpack’s music, so I’m running out of good things to say about him. So for fear of sounding redundant, I won’t go on my usual rant about his creativity, imagination, etc.. The tape starts off with a few audio bytes from one of my favorite motivational speeches of all time, “As soon as you want success as bad as you want to breath…” Definetly something to be used in the gym or before games to get you pumped up. The mixtape is full of tracks just like this, perfect for all ocassions, and they all have one thing in common; transport music. Transport music is a word I used to describe Jetpack’s music a few months ago, and it fits perfectly. His music transports you out of this world, and lets you forget about all of the stressors of your daily life. If you don’t know, this mixtape was released for free, but cost plenty to make, so the least you can do is like Jetpack’s facebook page below.
Favorite tracks: Afterburners, Be Alone, Fountain of Youth, and Jetpack Lifestyle.
Hip-Hop | Lil Wayne – Ghoulish (Pusha T Diss)
Posted by J_Salzer on May 25, 2012
For those of you that live under a rock, or just don’t keep up to date on hip-hop beef. A few days ago Pusha T released a song with a few obvious slams at YMCMB. The YMCMB captain decided to make it a full on battle by releasing this monster track that absolutely destroys Pusha T’s version after listening and analyzing both tracks, Pusha’s version kicks Wayne’s ass, although, at first listen Wayne wins because of his flow, Pusha T’s lyricism and actual slams at YMCMB are too tough. I know, Lil Wayne has fallen off, but the man can still ride a beat, and he still has a few good verses left in him. Sound of in the comments section or engage us on twitter to let us know what you think of this new beef. Publicity stunt? Real? All fun and games? Peep Wayne’s diss below and Exodus under that one. After all, What’s Beef?
