Electro, Hip-Hop, Videos | Timeflies – We Found Love [Video + Download]

If this doesn’t ignite the apocalypse, I don’t know what will. While I’ve been sitting here in denial with belief that Timeflies Tuesday was on a short hiatus, this 320 karat diamond pops up on my newsfeed. BOOM. While Flo Rida is naming songs after the world’s biggest pop star and drooling over RiRi’s short shorts and various hair colors, jumping on every remix opp that comes his way, Rob Resnick and Cal Shapiro are letting their talents do the talking. It’s not easy to successfully sample the hottest song of the year, but Timeflies did just that, surpassing the feat with flying colors. I have to hand it to Taylor Cut Films and OB Films for putting together one hell of a live footage video. #UnderTheInfluence mixtape coming soon.

Hip-Hop | Mac Miller – Missed Calls (ID Labs/ “Nobody’s Home Yet” Remix)
Posted by Grubeats on July 9, 2012
While Mac dropped the visuals for one of the most popular tracks off his debut album, Blue Slide Park, just last week, Pittsburgh producer, E. Dan, of ID Labs tossed together a remix to “Missed Calls”, well, because he can. Although ID Labs produced more than half of Mac’s album, Ritz Reynolds can be credited with the original production on this track. E. Dan amps up the beat but doesn’t waste time rearranging Mac’s love-story laced lyrics. If the original was too slow for your liking, try this remix.
Hip-Hop, Videos | OnCue – New Religion [Music Video]

It’s refreshing knowing when OnCue is readying a new video release, you can always expect something that strays from the norm. Videos can at times be extremely repetitive, but when you have the ability to create an abstract video such as “New Religion”, you differentiate yourself from the rest of the league. Cuey stays high on his young-n-up-n-comin-sh*t by delivering a video like nothing I’ve ever seen before. ART. This is just another reason why Cuey is always so high on my totem pole of up and coming artists. Credit director Adam Ross with another job well done, along with producers Just Blaze and Party Supplies with a bangin’ instrumental.

Cover, Pop, Videos | Jon Bellion – The Motto (Drake Cover)
Posted by Grubeats on July 2, 2012
[do action=”youtube” videoid=”8BR2wdVjifg”/]
It’s my pleasure to introduce the newest artist represented by Visionary Music Group, Jon Bellion. At 21, Jon has proven to be a very talented musician, crafting his own art by writing, recording, mixing, and mastering all his own original music. With blossoming artists Logic and Tayyib Ali on the same roster, the Long Island native will attempt to establish himself in the blogosphere with a distinct pop sound, as his predecessors have done with hip-hop.
Although cover songs are rare for Jon, who typically composes all original material, he decided to spin Drake and Lil Wayne’s crowd pleasing track, “The Motto” in hopes of warming up to the hip-hop heavy blog scene. While the term “YOLO” may be overworked and overused at this point, Jon brings a refreshing set of vocals to the microphone and transforms this track from a club hit to a very mellow pop cover. He will be following this introduction video with three completely original singles along with his debut mixtape “Translations Through Speakers” later this year.
What are the FNT faithful’s initial thoughts about Jon Bellion?
Hip-Hop | Voli x Chromatics – Lady
Posted by Grubeats on July 1, 2012
Sometimes I don’t understand the music industry. Correction, I never understand the music industry. Voli continues to pound out beat after beat and track after track at a consistently high quality, but rarely does he receive the credit he deserves. He has released several tracks off his debut album, The Wall, set for a drop later this summer, including a hot collab with Roc Nation’s J. Cole as well as many other bangin, self produced originals. Here, the NJ devil takes a stab at the Chromatics recent single, “Lady” adding his own verses to the bands electronic jam. This will be included on The Wall Sampler due out this coming week as a teaser for the official album release. Stay up kids, in due time, people will open their ears to Voli.
Pop | Chris Rene – Trouble
Posted by Grubeats on June 28, 2012
Following his breakout single, that had millions around the world asking “Young homie, what you trippin’ on?”, Chris Rene releases the second single off his debut studio album. Despite the success the Santa Monica native saw with “Young Homie” after he inked a deal with L.A. Reid and Epic Records, a subdivision of Sony Music, the pressure was still on for the second single. Naturally, we all questioned whether Rene was more than a garbage-picking-smooth-rhyme-kicking-SoCal phenomenon. Chris just squashed any signs of doubt with his newest release, “Trouble”, appropriately suited for the season.
Upon first listen, I thought producer Busbee may have pulled a sample from Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s “Over The Rainbow” while it sounds like strums from a ukulele carrying on throughout the song. Holding true to his dynamic “pop intertwined with the occasional hip-hop verse or beat kick” sound, this song is sure to take off this summer. What do you think, did Chris make it over the one-hit-wonder speed bump?
