Hip-Hop | OnCue – Cereal (Prod. by CJ Luzi)
Posted by Grubeats on January 3, 2013
What’s up FNT family, it’s been too long since we last connected. Now that the holidays have passed and the frigid temperatures have forced me to post up on top of my heated mattress, it’s time to feed my blogetite. Knowing I had to come back with heat, I cordially present to you Cuey’s first release off his sixth coming mixtape, Angry Young Man. As expected, board work comes from the 22-year old Jersey native, CJ Luzi. Although this track may have felt like a long time coming, I can assume you “Cereal” was worth the wait. Cuey’s voice is ripe and his raps are as potent as ever. With releases of this caliber, it won’t be long before these two are graduating from “cereal for dinner”.
Hip-Hop | J. Cole – 2012 (Prod. by J. Cole)
Posted by Grubeats on December 21, 2012
Cole weighs in with his 2 cents on the Mayan calendar (even though CNN is claiming the living Mayans don’t believe we’re all going to die after all). Lil Cole was on his Mr. Cleo shit back in ’08 when he recorded this gem, sitting, plotting for this exact day. Here’s what he had to say on his blog about the track;
If the world ends tomorrow, damn. I would be mad as shit for 2 reasons. First, I’m not with my family. That would suck.
What would also be wack is if I never got to drop this song.
Summer of 08?. Mark Pitts meeting had happened a month ago. He said he fucks with me, but he not talking about signing me. Ok. Fuck that. I’ma make my new shit so stupid that the next time he meet with me he gonna HAVE to sign me. Same summer I made Grown Simba and started The Warm Up with a “fuck it” mentality. A few special songs I made that summer haven’t dropped yet. This is one of them.
2012
Some of the most fun I ever had making a record. Alone in my room, making the beat, writing the raps, Jammin to this.
Here we are, Years Later, and right on time. Enjoy
– oh yea. Shout to the spanish nigga that came through and played the percussions. To the cool ass horn player that laced me, I forgot his name. This was my first Quincy Jones moment. Shout to Lil Cole. Shout to Aristotle. Shout to YOU.

Pop | Sebastian Mikael – Take Me Higher (Prod. by LU Balz)
Posted by Grubeats on December 20, 2012
Remember when I told you in my last post that Sebastian Mikael (formerly, De-Lor) was only a few short weeks away from delivering some serious heat? While many of you may associate Sebastian’s music with a more acoustic, mellow sound, “Take Me Higher” marks the first public tasting of Sebastian’s upbeat, pop side. Effortlessly reaching the high notes over the piano tap production from LU Balz, Sebastian exposes his innate ability to tackle various genre’s, which is why many of us are confident we are witnessing the birth of a star.
If you’re in or around CT, don’t miss out on seeing Sebastian perform alongside The White Panda at Showcase (28th) & Toads Place(29th).
Hip-Hop | Skizzy Mars – Pay For You ft. G-Eazy & Devon Baldwin
Posted by Grubeats on December 20, 2012
Einstein once said, “Not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts.” In layman’s terms; quality > quantity. I wont go as far as saying Skizzy took a page from Einstein’s book (yet), but he certainly understands the principles. As I’ve said before, Skizzy doesn’t strike as often as some artists, but he consistently delivers quality music. The latest single, “Pay For You”, features O-Towns debonair rapper, G-Eazy, who lends both production as well as a verse on this track along with American Idol contestant, Devon Baldwin. You can catch Skizzy on the road with G on his 2013 Must Be Nice tour. Phases coming soon!

Na Palm has been delivering remixes and bootlegs for quite some time now, but he marks a strong return to original music with his newest hit, “Away For You”. Enlisting his girl as his counterpart in the cutting edge video for this track, which features the newest in 3D mapping technology. “Away For You” marks the first single off Nay’s upcoming project, which will be followed up with a video on January 8th!
Pop, Videos | Timeflies – Swoon [Music Video]
Posted by Grubeats on December 18, 2012
[do action=”youtube” videoid=”OVp-8e8XwgY”/]
I never realized how awkwardly entertaining life looks in rewind until I watched this video.
Awkward or not, Timeflies have themselves yet another hit. The caveman club smash featured on their recent chart topping EP, One Night, is almost as cool at the dime piece pole dancing swooning on the American flag in the backdrop of this video. Anyone else feel like “swoon” is one of those interchangeable adjectives that can virtually be placed anywhere in a sentence? Verbs too, actually. Swoon over to iTunes and cop this track along with the rest of Timeflies’ irresistible EP for a loose $3.99!

Hip-Hop | YONAS – Lights (Remix)
Posted by Grubeats on December 18, 2012
By now, we know one thing for sure; YONAS’ remix game is always on 100. While his most recent single, “Thought I Told You“, was 100% original, the Brooklyn native was feeling generous and deciding to dish out a freebie a week prior to Christmas Eve. If you ever dreamt of raw lyrics over Ellie Goulding’s “Lights”, look no further. Even Kris Kringle is bobbing to this one.
“I’m the bridge, I’m the bridge, if you think there’s still a gap, between that hardcore EDM and this hip-hop thing called rap”
