Trap | Dani Deahl and Jason Edward Give “The Next Episode” a Festival Trap Makeover
Posted by GMONEY on April 28, 2015
Any time a track from my childhood gets the remix treatment, my very first listen through the remix is typically skeptical, as the expectations are sky high. When Chicago-native, Dani Deahl, and LA-based producer, Jason Edward, released their remix of Dre and Snoop’s 1999 classic from The Chronic on 4/20, you can bet that my expectations for the remix were through the roof, and I’m happy to say that Deahl and Edward delivered. On the remix, Deahl and Edward leave the iconic introduction to “The Next Episode” untouched, before infusing the rest of the track with a hard-hitting festival trap feel. Deahl and Edward slowly build the track before unleashing a flurry of fat, blaring horns and ripe vocal samples layered over a pounding bass line. Deahl and Edward are giving out this remix as a little 4/20 gift, so be sure to download to track here.

Hot off the coattails of Tiësto and Martin Garrix’s “The Only Way is Up” announcement comes a bootleg that’s here to soak up some of the spotlight, and rightfully so. Dekagram, an ATL native looking to make a name for himself in the realm of progressive house, dropped his version of the Dutch boys unreleased single yesterday, and it’s turning some heads. His version takes on the same premise as the original, but he really lets the beast out, and that’s a change we can whole-heartedly welcome. From start to finish, Dekagram lets the floodgates wide open with high powered synth leads, a hard driving bass-line, and tasteful use of the originals vocal cuts.
For those who don’t feel like there’s enough “umpf” coming from Tiësto n’ Garrix’s version, this will definitely do the trick. Dekagram is making big strides of improvement in his productions, which just makes us that much more excited for whatever he’s got cooking up next. In the meantime you can enjoy his “Only Way Up” bootleg as a freebie!

House | Who Is Behind This Flute-Laden Tech-House Groove, “Mr. TOOT”?
Posted by GMONEY on April 14, 2015
A nameless newcomer has maintained his secretive allure with a new single, “Mr. TOOT.” By incorporating the flute from Astor Piazzolla’s famous masterpiece “Tango Study,” this producer meshes tech-house with one of the 20th Century’s greatest composers to create an excellent, versatile song that what we now know as “Mr. TOOT.” It seems like this is just the beginning for this mystery artist, and I think it’s safe to say that we can expect to see more from him/her in the future, but who is this artist anyway?
